Q&A with Peyton Little

I never knew she was unhappy until she left.

The Kentucky game might have been her best game: 21 points, 7 rebounds, against a good team. But, she also made the key mistake that enabled Kentucky to shoot a free throw and get it to OT when she bounced the ball hard enough to get a Technical with 0:01 left. Derica could have still won it, but she missed two FTs with one second left.

That technical was a bad call on the ref.

I never had the opportunity to see the game or the replay or that play.
I thought I had heard that Sherri thought it was a bad call. Also, since she was fouled first and then the technical, why did she not get to take the shots? Was it because it was a technical that was her last foul? I think at sometime someone explained it but now do not remember. Anyone know?

It had been an extremely ugly, terribly officiated game in general. An obscene amount of fouls, FTs, and players fouling out on both sides. OU was up 1 with a few seconds left. UK needed to foul to extend the game and Nicole had the ball and was dribbling up the court. A UK player was essentially hanging on her to foul and it took the refs too long to call it. When they finally did, Nicole spiked the ball in frustration (and also celebration?) and was called for a technical, her fifth foul. UK missed the first FT but made the 2nd to tie the game. And then Derica, who came in for Nicole, missed both. We ended up losing in OT.

The technical foul could've gone either way IMO. The refs could've ignored it, but Nicole knew they were whistle-happy the entire game and just needed to be smarter than that. Slamming the ball on the ground wasn't smart.

But yes, aside from that play, I think that was her best game, too. Kentucky didn't have an answer for her.

Yeah, I always thought it had been celebration but not sure why I thought that. Maybe I read a comment on a board. I just always wished I could have seen the play. I liked reading your recap. Glad you posted.

I thought it was more of an emotion of exasperation or relief, as in, "it's finally over." I didn't see anger or joy.
