I was driving in the car in rural Texas during the 2nd half and couldn't even follow the game on my phone from a lack of signal. Any plays or players that stood out down the stretch. It appears that we kept our poise and got the win.

Any feedback/recap would be appreciated.....thanks.:OU-logo:

We got ahead by 6 midway but got sloppy and then never lead by more than 4. We trailed by 3 at one point but quickly cut it to 1.

Biggest play was obviously the Woodard 3 late in the game to give us the lead for good. Buddy was also clutch on his FTs and then we were helped by 3 misses after Cousins was called for a foul outside 3 pt line.

We held it together when we needed to but were sloppy before that. We played a little better in second half overall though. Spangler was much more aggressive. Refs let several plays go where Cousins and Hield were fouled.

Thanks for the recap OP. I did get a chance to see most of the first half. I thought we needed to get more tough under the basket (defense and rebounding). I'm not one to complain about officiating, but it seemed that there was a noticeable difference in what Memphis was allowed to get away with in the first half....as opposed to OU. But will definitely take a nice road win to start the season.

We did a much better job on the defensive glass in the 2nd half but it's clear that Spangler is going to need help. McNeace and Lattin provided little. Buford had his moments and finished with 8 or 9 boards.

It's good to hear we were better on the glass in the 2nd....and we are going to need that out of Buford. Outside of Spangler, we appeared to be pretty soft underneath in the first half. It was certainly cause for concern.

OU slowed down and played a lot more half court sets in the 2nd half. They ran their offense, and played sound defense including blocking out on the glass. They didn't sub as much as they did in the first half and seemed a lot more focused.

They pretty much played our 4 returning starters with Buford who did a good job on the boards, setting picks, and playing defense. They also played James as a sub but not as much as they did in the 1st half. Neither of our new post players were very effective (Lattin or McNeace), and that's how Buford got his minutes.

I was surprised that Spangler, Buddy, and Cousins all 3 played at least 35 minutes. Ryan actually played 37 minutes showing they needed his steadiness. We played mostly an 8 man rotation all game. It surprised me a lot that Odomes didn't play a little more.
