I was abut to bench Self but then she hit a home run. Poor play not calling for the ball that Pendly desperately tried to catch. And her bat has been frozen after being one of our hottest hitters.
That was an absolutely beautiful changeup that got their best hitter who had already hit one home run this game.
Second error by Arnold but that was on a bad hop.
Chamberlin made a couple of good digs at first to secure the out.
Our hitting is not what it was for much of the season and needs to pick up, especially the middle to the bottom of the order.
Paige will have plenty of time to rest after we beat those suckers the second time.
Pendly is one terrific shortstop with a championship arm.
Looks like we wont see Stevens pitch unless we're desperate.
Parker looked a bit tired that last inning but dug really deep and won.

It was good to see Ellis calm Parker down the last inning after Gasso had already been out to the mound.

Self and Pendley cost us a run in a close game. But, their defense is often what keeps us in the game. They are both good in the field. Shelby is only five of fifteen in NCAA play with no extra base hits. But, Self showed how quickly they are capable of striking despite slumping a bit.

I thought Bama was operating in a state of shock after Lauren's home run. Osario had lost that smile that she was sporting after every out. Some of the swagger left. I think they came into the game loose and confident. They were on a roll. It staggered them. I'll be interested to see how they come out tomorrow.

One good thing about NCAAs. Since they are better teams, they think they can pitch to Lauren. She has a rather good record in the NCAA games historically.

I agree that as the game wore on with Bama's 2 run lead they appeared to get rather cocky along about the 5th inning. They sure sobered up when they lost the lead.

We were concerned about Bama's power hitters. McCleney is hot right now, but only has 8 home runs for the year. It's just that five are in the last five games. But, there is a simple fact about OU's power vs that of Bama.

OU has 105 home runs this year in 56 games. Bama has 59 home runs in 58 games. So, OU has a couple of power hitters in Chamberlain and Pendley that are #1 and #6 in softball history. If you take their home runs out of the mix, OU has 60, and Bama has 59. The point is that the rest of the OU team has about the same power as Bama if we exclude our two sluggers. That was Kady's tenth home run. Bama has one player with more than eight.

ESPN did a comparison on Osorio vs Parker at the end of the fifth inning. I wonder what that comparison would have been after the sixth? Paige had three B's as I remember, whereas Osorio had two A's and a B. Wonder how five earned runs affected that?
Osorio 19-8 1.74
Parker 27-5 1.54

I'd say that both are pretty good. Osorio just didn't realize how much power OU had. Self would be second on the Bama team in home runs.

But, the SEC apologists would explain that by stating the fact that the SEC is so much more powerful than the Big 12, that OU compiled those numbers by feasting on weaker competition, doncha know???

I would LOVE for OU to finish the sweep today at 4 PM!
