Romero Osby

His charisma and leadership remind me of a Hollis Price, whereas his game is like Ace McGhee. He's even gracious to opponents.

Aaron Mcghee is a pretty solid comparison. Ace was a heck of a player though. Averaged 22 and 7 in 5 NCAA Tournament games. 1st team all conference. Plus Ace Mcghee did all that on a team went 31-5 and made it to a Final Four, and had a good chance to win a national championship.

Osby has been terrific though. He is a better athlete than Ace, for sure.

Does anyone else think of Aaron McGhee when they see Osby?

I see why you would say that, but man, Ace was playing like the best player in college basketball the last 2-3 months of his senior season. I'm not sure Osby has quite reached that level. And they are doing it a little differently as well. Ace didn't shoot as many 15 footers, but hit more 3's, and was a little better around the rim.

Taj Gray might be a little better comparison for Osby, though their games were different too.

Ace was a star... still clueless why he never at least got a shot in the league, - inside/outside and had a physical nature to his game. If I remember correctly even though he went undrafted he played very well in one of the predraft camps.

Eh.

I think people confuse "better" with "more diverse." I won't argue that Osby is a more diverse basketball player with the ball in his hands. But I think Taj wins most of the other categories.

Gray rebounded it better. Scored it as efficiently. Blocked a full shot more per game. Gray was just "bigger" inside. And that really isn't a knock on Osby, but Osby is probably 2-3 inches shorter than Gray. Different players, but similar affect on the games, IMO.

Osby is the better offensive player, Gray wins on defense.

gray might be a better pure post defender .. but in our switching rotating system osby is a much better fit

We don't switch big to small, and Kelvin employed one of the best team defenses there was. Gray is a much better defender b/c of his size, and I think he got off the ground "quicker" than Osby does.
