Is that still today? Will anyone have any info about how it went?

Couple feelers out. We’ll see. Jon rothstein on twitter usually is the go to.

Sounds good. Hope we hear a little. Ready for the season to start.

Dumb.

Both Minnesota and Oklahoma decided not to release stats from this scrimmage Saturday. So I guess it really was secret Winking face

Yeah that’s silly. Would have been fun, even if largely insignificant, to hear how it went and have something to talk about for a few days.

In that case let's pretend it never happen

Exactly. We have a new coach and almost completely new roster, and everyone is bursting at the seams with excitement. Even though it doesn't count, yes, it would be very interesting to see how all those guys fared, as well as the holdovers with new roles. Heck at this point i'd be good with who won and some high scorers..

First game is in a week. We can wait. If I recall from past scrimmages, the notes/box score we received wasn't really an indicator of anything for the season.

The November 1 exhibition won't magically reveal the team's fortunes for the rest of the season, either, but I'll still be watching. Similarly, I'd like to have any tidbit we can get about yesterday's scrimmage.

It stinks that we can't get even the minimum info. A box score or even the final score. That's just silly.

It also stinks that we did get info about scrimmages between Portland and Seattle, LSU-Nicholls and, of all schools, Loyola Chicago-Wisconsin.

A scrimmage vs Minnesota seems pretty inefficient. Lots of teams in the immediate area.

Wonder how Minnesota got selected?

In the past, VBDad or one of those guys came on the board and would tell us kind of how the game went and who the high scorers were. I can remember getting information on "secret" scrimmages with Oregon, Tulsa, and SMU over the last few years. In the Oregon one I remember him saying Christian James went off for like 36 and we beat them. We beat SMU by 4 or something. Beat Tulsa. The OU staff might have insiders on the board by the shorthairs, who knows, but I sure don't see the harm in at least saying who won. Tons of stuff is out on other other schools.

In two weeks nobody will give ratsazz. But I think getting info on a scrimmage against a Big 10 team like the Gophers is immensely more interesting than whatever rag tag opponent we'll be playing in our exhibition. I guess I just don't understand what all the secrecy is about, and why. I guess i'm also like... this doesn't help market to your fans if you're trying to fill arenas when there's next to no coverage on the team. OK, onwards and upwards...

yeah they have plenty of money ... it is about getting a good opponent ..

Though I agree with everyone and wish we had some insight into the scrimmage and what to expect from this OU team, calling Minnesota a good opponent is likely generous. They are expected to finish dead last in the Big Ten rather comfortably. They have a brand new coach who is only 40 years old and can be promising, but he has no previous head coaching experience. They have exactly one healthy returning player, and he averaged 3 points and 3 rebounds last year. That's it. That's all the production coming back. Their best player last season, Marcus Carr, is in Austin and among the favorites to win Big 12 newcomer of the year.

They filled the roster with transfers, but none of them have Power 5 experience. They still don't have a "true" point guard or a "true" center.

All this to say.... I'm not sure how much insight we could gain from scrimmaging them. Also not sure why we didn't opt to scrimmage another closer team (Oral Roberts!). If we performed poorly in the scrimmage, that would be cause for (slight) concern.

Heard OU beat Minnesota by 20+ in their scrimmage, Harkless and Tanner groves were our best players.

Noland was best young player. Other frosh played limited minutes.

Overall good start for OU.

Yea I checked out their roster... looks pretty rough.

About what I would expect on the player breakdown.

If the 20+ point win is accurate, I’m super pumped to see this team live in a week or two! That’s a wide margin against any P5 team.

Thanks, Coach!

Better than nothing! Thanks Coach.

Kinda how I feel, Stikboy! But I decided to trip over to the Gopher’s web site to see what Mont and others are talking about?

YIKES! We should all be glad our new coach is Porter Moser! We should also be glad he had something to work with when the season started. That’s more than I can say about Minnesota’s new coach, Ben Johnson! The cupboard wasn’t just bare, he didn’t even have a cupboard.

I’m still excited about this OU team. But I’ll have to curb my excitement just a little until I see them play with my own eyes.
