Shawnee, El Reno to meet in semis

Two 2017 Class 5A state tournament teams will square off in Friday’s semifinals in Shawnee’s tournament.

Shawnee, now in Class 6A, dominated McAlester for a 38-22 win with 10 points apiece from Monica Brooks and Makyra Tramble.

El Reno routed Northwest Classen 72-34. Massey Beard scored 15, while Hayden Freeman pitched in 11.

The teams will meet at 7 p.m.

I know Shawnee edged Ardmore in the championship game. Ardmore is playing in 4A this season due to low enrollment figures. I heard that J’Sades Ainsworth, Ardmore’s star forward, got hurt in the first half. But I never heard how bad the injury might have been. Do you know what happened?
