So is CJ Cole on an actual b-ball scholly or academic one? According to the above info, if we sign no one in the spring we would have 3 ships for next year's class, but only 2 if we did sign 1 player, correct? With only 2 seems like you would have to be very particular. With 3 that gives you more room to play around.

I would love to add another athletic post or swing forward to this class. The Goodman kid would be ideal..that way if Buford isn't quite ready to start we would have someone a little more experienced with some strength that could play there. If not, you may be starting Bennet and Spangler down low. I personally wouldn't totally mind that...I really like DJ and he would give us a legit shot blocking presence and I think if he got 25+ minutes/game he would give us around 8 pt, 7 reb & 2 blk per game. Most points would be off of put back dunks, etc. unless he could develop a better back to the basket game and utilize a drop step move or baby hook or something.

Thoughts?

Yes, Cole is on a basketball scholarship.

There aren't many kids left I would use a scholarship on at this point, IF Hornbeak stays. Goodman is definitely one of them.

I also don't see any way that Buford isn't ready to start. LK and staff will coach him up enough that he should be fine.

Yeah, you have 13 D1 scholarships and I would definitely use one on Goodman. He was really highly touted outof HS. He originally committed to Villanova and supposedly had offers from Kentucky and North Carolina. He averaged 9 minutes a game at UNLV as a freshman and was getting good reviews over last summer, so he has sat out a year. He's a big, physical kid and we need that kind of post player. Only problem is his juco coach is now on the staff at Arizona State so he may pick the Sun Devils.

I guess the other question is whether they take Bobbick, but I thought that was a contingency offer if Hornbeak leaves.

Probably they need for either Lattin or McNease ready to play along with Buford. No question they're counting on Buford to get big minutes, but he may be more of a 3 than a 4 this year.
