On another site, someone posted that women's softball isn't going to count toward the winner of this year's Bedlam Trophy, or whatever they call it. The Aggies somehow got football made equal in points to everything else, and they still haven't been winning it anyway.

If true, this is absurd. But I'm only mildly surprised that the scoring hasn't weighted wrestling for more points that football, just to appease the Ag Factor.

That sure would not make sense to not include softball. Hopefully, that's an erroneous report. Outside of football and basketball and baseball, softball is probably the most watched and also has maybe the highest participation of everyday people in the country. The Bedlam Trophy is really insignificant anyway.

It does seem appropriate to associate OSU with a mental asylum. But, I'm not sure that we should be associated with either.

I fully suspect this is nothing more than an internet rumor. Based on the 2012-13 school year the Bedlam Series had 26 points that could be awarded to the two schools. OU won 14-11 in 2012-13. Of those 26 points six of them are earned by baseball and softball, three each. Six sports (men's basketball, women's basketball, women's tennis, women's golf, and soccer) earn two points each. Ten sports (football, men's tennis, men's golf, men's indoor track, men's outdoor track, men's cross country, women's indoor track, women's outdoor track, women's cross country and wrestling) earn only one point toward the Bedlam Series. Soccer only earned one point for 2012-13 because of a tie in their second game.

If you eliminated softball from the series logically you would have to eliminate baseball as well and presently those sports account for 24% of the available points. Incidentally, the Sooners lead the series 10-4 and have won the series for five straight years.

Effectively men and women's track teams, the baseball and the softball teams combine to account for basically half (12/25) of the points available
