Since Nash went out. He's shooting 46% from 3. He looks really good out there. I'm not sure Nash can replace him even if his back improves. The Lakers ball movement is really good.

Will be interesting to see how Kobe integrates back in. He had a career high assists per game last season and was regularly dropping 10+ dimes toward the end of the season before his injury. Jerry Buss last decision to pick D'Antoni over Jackson is another gem.

The Lakers won't win anything this year but they are fun to watch & have put together an athletic young core to run D'Antoni's system. They are only a player or two from being dangerous next season. I don't think Carmelo is that guy though.

Yes, certainly history has shown us that D'antoni's system has had more success than Phil Jackson's system.

The Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Shaq, Scottie Pippen, Pau Gasol, Horace Grant, Andrew Bynum, etc in their prime system? Jackson was fortunate to coach loaded rosters with hall of famers. Using your logic Spoelstra is why Miami is dominating the league.

And actually yeah, D'Antoni is actually 2-0 vs Phil Jackson head to head in the playoffs. Jerry Buss saw this and knew who would be better with the roster he had.

None of those players you mentioned did anything before they had Phil Jackson. Phil Jackson took good teams, and made them great. D'antoni takes good teams, and makes them fun to watch during the regular season.

You act like the Lakers didn't have a loaded roster last year, basically the same team Phil won two titles with (just sub Howard for Bynum) and D'antoni ran it into the ground.

Spoelstra is a very, very good coach. It's not just the players.

Edit: I will say up to this point this season has probably been D'antoni's best coaching job of his career. But we can't just overlook his disastrous playoff record and his horrific tenure with the Knicks. He may turn out to be a good hire, but we have no evidence of that at his point, and if you can get Phil, you get Phil. Actually the evidence we do have is they should have kept Brown lol

Not sure where you made up this "he takes over good teams" ... He took over a 29 win Suns team & quickly turned them into a 62 win team and won NBA coach of the year. The Knicks sucked. The Lakers were winless in pre season & started the regular season 1-4. He had them winning 70% of their games the last 2 months of last season before Kobe blew his achilles.

Jerry Buss always knew what he was doing and this is no exception.

Last year I said Blake, Meeks, and Hill were all very solid bench guys, and Thunder homers on LT laughed me off the board. Well those guys are proving to be very productive, along with Farmar.....

The Lakers are more athletic. Not sure how Kobe translates, cause no one knows what level he will be able to play. I'm sure his shot attempts will not suffer. LOL... Seriously I hope he desn't mess with chemistry. These guys love playing together, and they are playing hard each night.

Kobe's new contract signed today may be problematic in 2-4 years.

Phil vs D'Antoni???? Come on man!!!!!!!!!!:facepalm:facepalm

Call it whatever your Laker heart desires.

His barely over .500 record shows what he is. His playoff record shows what he is.

He's a nice little coach, but we are talking about Phil Jackson.

Buss is an idiot. Kobe's window is closing and they needed a proven, playoff, championship winner, one that could also handle the ego's like Howard. Instead, they chose the party favor.

Pretty sure you are talking to Boca, because u know I wouldn't take D'Antoni with LaBron, over Phil Jackson....LOL.....

I'm burning a spot on my team for Kobe so he'd better start shooting when he gets off the bus. :ed

Lol @ the clown who called Jerry Buss an idiot calling somebody else a shock jock.

I'll trust Jerry Buss on his decisions just like Warren Buffett. Their track records speak for them. As for the rest of the mindless chattering class in the echo chamber. They have always been & will always be meaningless barking dogs.

I didn't call Jerry Buss an idiot. I called Jim Buss an idiot. You know, the Buss that was running the team when they hired D'antoni. Jerry had little to do with running the team at that time, so just because you incorrectly said the wrong Buss, doesn't mean coherent people would make that same mistake. Pop may have signed on, but Jim Buss was running things. Why the hell would I call a dead guy an idiot, as if he were still alive.

Only a shock jock would get that wrong, and only a shock jock would bring up Warren Buffett in a thread about basketball.

Edit: Jim is trash for stomping on his father's grave when he blamed Jerry for the D'antoni decision
