The timing was terrible, but reading comments from tOSU fans, the consensus was that it was time for a change. The guy is an amazing recruiter and a very good coach. He'll be back when he's ready...needs to get past some health issues.
Since Motta had more success than any other OSU head coach (in my lifetime, anyway), I'm curious to see if his successor can achieve what he did. I know the last two years haven't been so good, but that shouldn't change his legacy. Those "one and dones" can come back to bite...definitely bit him.
I'm curious who OSU even can get at this time of year...should be interesting. As far as basketball programs go, they are in the same tier as OU...they're overall resume is slightly better because of what they did in the 1960s, but we're splitting hairs if the 1960s is your tiebreaker.
