The Big Dance

At this point in time, coaches normally don't trot out something new visa-a-vis major line up changes, offensive or defensive sets.

But, if Sherri did, what would be some you guys think she might try, and how do you all think we will play.

Double Screens to get Maddie, Gabbi, Peyton better shots?
More or less Edwards on the court?
A two-big lineup?
Tougher man-to-man?
More trapping?

Each additional game we play will be tougher.

I'm just thinking out loud. I'm pretty much ready to get what we've already seen this year, good and bad.

Well, as Coach pointed out, they've had a week to practice without knowing a specific opponent, so it could be any of several.

I think more screens, or anything else to get more perimeter shots in rhythm is likely.

How much Edwards probably depends on the opponent's speed.

Some high-low offense maybe.

Definitely tougher defense and ready to trap.

Purdue is not a tall team. They are a decent three-point shooting team, 34%.

The starters:
April Wilson 5-7 Sr G leading scorer at 14.6 pts, 5.6 Asst
Ashley Morrissette 5-9 Jr G 13.1
Bridget Perry 6-2 G 10.8 pts 5.9 reb
Adreonna Keys 5-10 Soph G 8.5 pts 5.3 reb
Torrie Thornton 6-0 Sr F 3.1 pts 3.1 reb

Top reserves
Dominique McBryde 6-2 F Fresh 7.3 pts 4.2 reb
Hayden Hamby 5-7 Sr G 4.1 pts
Bree Horrocks 6-5 Soph C 4.4 pts 2.9 reb

They average 14.55 turnovers to their opponents 17.29. They outrebound their opposition by 1.7. They get 9.23 steals per game to their opponents 6.81. They shoot 42.6%, but allow their opponents 40.4. I don't think the Big Ten is a big defensive conference. Streaky record.

Looked at their schedule and they don't look like 11 seed (they were also supposedly last at large team in the field). They did beat Louisville early in the season. I'm sure they will have huge crowd advantage with Indiana just across the state line of KY. KayKay and Vivi should have big games. If they don't, we'll be in trouble, but looking at lineup, we should match up pretty well with them.

We beat Boston College 76-61 in Freeport. Of their 61, thirty were because they were 10-22 from three. We were 4 of 20. Vivi and Kay Kay were 11 of 15 with 17 rebounds and 28 points.

Boston College went to West Lafayette to play Purdue and won 58-56. Fasoula went nuts on them and hit them for 23 points and 9 rebounds. BC shots 53% against Purdue.

Texas as a 2-seed is laughable. I realize the record is good, but that team is not mentally tough enough to defeat any of the top seven or eight teams.

JMHO

UCLA will knock them out in Sweet 16 if UT makes that far.

I'm loving A&M and Hypocrite U in Dallas Regional and both could meet in Sweet 16!

Can't wait for this matchup and revenge will be served to the Agathas! Blair has no chance against our bigs. We will own the paint! 8 is not enough Sic'em!
