One more year

Lets start the campaign now. One more year. For those of you that tweet, send it out to Buddy. How does that work? #onemoreyearbuddy.

Re: One more year

I'm merging the one more year threads. Also, I hope Buddy comes back. He could absolutely be an OU legend.

Not only do I want him back for selfish reasons, if I was his personal adviser/family member I'd BEG him to stay. It appears Buddy loves playing college basketball. From what we can tell, he is very tight with his teammates and has been through a lot with these guys. I am assuming those things. If that isn't true, then the rest might be moot.

He is a very good college basketball player, but I see his current NBA prospects as somewhere between a longshot and very bleak. He isn't a superior athlete and he isn't a guy teams will look at as having great "upside." On the NBA level, he isn't all that big for shooting guard and he can't play the point. He is a streaky shooter, not a dead eye shooter. You never know.. Maybe in the perfect situation he'd find a niche somewhere, but again I see it as a longshot. I'd be stunned if he was a first round pick. Which means he wouldn't get a dime of guaranteed money.

I am sure he could make some good cash overseas. But unless there is some sort of financial crisis going on, why rush it? He has one more opportunity to live the college life, be with his teammates, and make a run at some pretty big goals. If he comes back, it wouldn't be wild to say OU has Final Four holes for next season.

The risk if catastrophic injury in basketball isn't very high. You very rarely see college seniors suffering injuries that eliminate them from playing professionally. In other words, he can realize whatever pro dreams he has next year. And who knows, with a stellar senior year he might very well increase his value.

I try not to judge these things because I don't know their personal feelings or situations. But in this particular case, I feel I know enough to say Buddy would be making a mistake if he left.

Even the ones my fat fingers post before I'm done? :)

Thanks, that is kind of you. Can't believe it took me so long to find this place.

Don't be like the Amath M'Baye Rob Lowe. Come on back Bud

:woot :woot

Good timing. I just watched M'Baye in the 2013 OU-Kansas game on Crimson Classics. He could have made last year's team that much better had he stayed. I know he was a bit older than most seniors-to-be, but also blew his senior year by going undrafted.

I also think Buddy can accomplish a lot by staying, and that includes things like a degree, a league title and some major individual honors at the national level.

Buddy needs to comeback but you never know what they will do. He would make money overseas but he can do that in a year. If he stays and improves his all around game he might make an NBA team. He is athletic enough to do it just needs some polish.

Exactly. He needs one more year. We need one more year. Sounds like a match made in Heaven!
