The Trae Young Crystal Ball Thread

I'm not sure how many swings this thing is going to take, but the last two crystal ball predictions on 247 have him going to Kansas. One of which is Jerry Meyer, the Director of Basketball Recruiting, for for 247.

Like I said in another thread, I rarely have sources, and I wouldn't want to predict the mind of high school teenager nowadays, but I have heard some second-hand info that his dad prefers him to go to a "big time basketball" school, while his family (mom, siblings) want him to stay close to home.

I know a lot of you have sources saying OU is looking good though, so we'll see. I'm not going to be confident about this one until it's signed on the bottom line. I know the Crystal Ball is not always 100 percent solid, but it's interesting to follow.

The latest 247 crystal ball shows KU moving up after their five star commit, Billy Preston, urged Jayhawk fans to show Trae some love. I predicted this would happen, mainly for the reason OUHoops called attention to, his dad wants him to go to a "blue blood" school. The fact that KU came out of nowhere after our main competition, UK, got a commitment from a five star point guard, seems to support that idea.

Based on what I have been told, this would have been over long ago if Trae was making the call. Problem is, he's not. So, we have no choice but to wait and hope he stays close to home in the end. I'm not going to hold my breath on this one. I think the fact that Jerry Meyer changed his prediction from OU to KU in the last day or two as a bad sign for Sooner fans.

I wouldn't predict where any of these young men go, not until they're on campus and play in their first game. And after that I wouldn't predict they play the entire season.

Trey's girlfriend lives at Norman. It's likely she'll attend college close to home.

I think trying to prognosticate on this one is a fool's errand. The local school/family ties vs. blue blood question comes up every year in both football and basketball, and it goes both ways.

An admin on the Soonerscoop board, Joe Duvall, has an update on Trae. He says his sources are saying Trae will decide this month and it is down to OU and KU. Who knows what will happen, but at least Lonnie will know this month so we can move on to plan b if necessary.

This kind of recruitment is the definition of heartbreak if Trae picks KU when you think about the amount of time and resources this staff has put into this kid.
