If you didn't know the score before seeing this, you would still know who won easily:

Fast break points-OSU 2, BU 6.

Score tied-1 time. Lead changed-0 times.
Largest lead-OSU None, BU by 38 2nd-07:24.

I rather suspect that there may be quite similar stats for many Baylor conference games.

I believe you're right. When it comes to scoring, Baylor doesn't shoot well from the outside or from the line. But, they shoot 51% on their field goals. They light up teams inside. It seems clear to me that opposing coaches should sag inside to protect against what they do best, score in the paint. I would leave them open to shoot threes until such time one of their players proves she is hot and makes 3 or 4. Otherwise, invite them to shoot BTA but you cannot allow Griner or the other forwards to shoot 60%+. I would normally say, if they do get the ball inside, foul them....but, we don't have enough players to do that.

OSU was playing zone for a lot of the game. Baylor has the quickness to break down the zone. OSU did an outstanding job the first 10 minutes in keeping Baylor in check. Brooklyn Pope had an outstanding half for Baylor that allowed them to keep OSU at arms length. She kept slipping in the back side of the zone and Baylor made very nice passes to get the ball to her while she was open under the basket.

Other teams should be able to watch the first 10 minutes of the game and get an idea on how to slow Baylor down. The thing about trying to force them to shoot 3s, Baylor will not allow it. They are very meticulous and patient on the offensive side. Many times they scored with less than 5 seconds left on the clock. OSU left them open most of the time to shoot the three, but Baylor would just work the ball and get the better shot.

I wonder how a women's team that is as good at a playing a zone as the Syracuse men are would fare against Baylor. Most teams aren't solely a zone team and most aren't as good as it as the Syracuse men.

I know this, Griner, Pope, and Sims will kill you if they get the ball in the paint. You cannot allow them to do that often and survive.

Norm is right, you can't let them penetrate, but with a good zone, you better be able to live with leaving the outside shot open a lot. Any good defense still will have to give up something. I remember when we lost to the bears a few years ago, we stifled everything inside, but Sims just killed us out side. Got to pick your poison.
