Tonights game

I have been following OU Women's basketball since Sherri's early days and I believe this one falls in the category of one of the worst games ever played by a Sherri Coal coached team.:facepalm

Absolute stinker. They did a good job of stopping our outside and mid range shots and just let us shoot layups which seems to be a serious weakness.

They got open shots with good body position and knocked them down. We put up a bunch of panicked shots and couldn't even hit the open shots.

KayKay and Ortiz need to get their game together or we will have more embarassments.

Thought it was pretty well coached, its just nobody could execute. If you can get the ball into your post like we did, we should win the game. So many missed layups it was unbelievable. And how many times did we make a terrible play on the break? Turnovers, bad shots, and bad decisions. Running with 2 on 4, 3 on 4. Gabbi will literally come out on a dead sprint every single play. I get that we want to play fast, but that is just destructive. Thats especially hard on a post player, and when they start getting a little gassed, then misses will shortly follow.

We fell into North Texas trap by pushing the tempo, they were faster than us and they also got back on breaks. We have to experiment with using two post players and slow down the tempo down the tempo of the game. Our 4 guard rotation is gonna kill us again this year. We have no shot blocking presence on the floor and they drove to the basket with ease. Our man 2 man defense needs work.

Good post! In my opinion it is dumb to have Maddie at the top of the circle. She isn't scoring much (14 pts in 2 games) and she isn't rebounding (2 in 2 games). That's pathetic from someone that some here think is the best player this side of the Mississippi. Not to mention we haven't played Notre Dame the last 2 games. Compare those numbers to Nina Davis who also plays the PF position! Put Maddie closer to the baseline and we might see some decent production.

I have no idea why Sherri kept playing Kaylon who couldn't hit the side of a barn. It was almost like a turnover every time she shot. ViVi could make the point blank shots, why not leave her in? I firmly believe we would have won the game fairly easily just by moving Maddie down low and used ViVi at center.
