This isn’t remotely true. In fact, it would be hard to be more wrong if you tried. TV ratings are way up. They have a new pro league that is expanding. Attendance at the World Series and Supers is great. It's only awesome to OU fans. Women's basketball kills it in ratings, revenue, everything. Only OU fans give a damn about softball. It's kind of sad after a while to be honest.
And comparing the tv ratings to basketball is silly. College baseball also gets killed in the ratings by men’s college basketball. Basketball has a much longer history of being a successful college sport. Hell, as recently as the late 90s, a lot of power conference schools didn’t even care about baseball, let alone softball. And honestly, without the NBA propping up the WNBA and Caitlin Clark drawing so much attention a couple years ago to the college game, the ratings wouldn’t be where they are. Softball is doing it on its own, and not based on one player or based on celebrities sitting at games and promoting the sport.
