I think she could be the key to our season. She, Maddie and KayKay or ViVi were in the game together for a bit yesterday and it looked very good.

Supposedly her accuracy from behind the arc was no fluke.

I can visualize her and KayKay or ViVi in a high low situation. They have to cover her and the low post will have a one on one situation. If they double from the wings then Little or Maddie or even Gabbi are open. By the way I like the arc on Gabbi's shot a lot better now. She was almost bringing it up from her knees with a very high arc. Now a lot better form.

Back to Treece, she can also pick and pop for a trey with the outside players. And we would be much stronger on the boards. Maybe a little weaker on defense against the four guard teams. But fine against the likes of Texas and Baylor where we need two bigs in the game together.

If this team can morph into a three guard offense then they can get the maximum benefit from Treece and be ready to best utilize Mulkey next year.

If we can get an effective Carter back we could be seriously good.

I would like to see Maddie play the position as you described. I think she would be very effective in a high low situation. I think her scoring production and offensive rebounding would go up and we would lose nothing on defense. I do not think we are seeing the best of Maddie Manning at the top of the circle.

vs team like Baylor I think starting 4 guards will give us an advantage...

If McKenna can consistently produce, the two bigs in at the same time could be effective. It does look like McKenna can play more consecutive minutes than our other post types. But KK has clearly worked hard to get in a bit better shape. She is giving her all in her senior season.

One thing I like is that we are playing pretty well with Peyton not producing too many points yet. That will come - and can offset some loss of points from a couple of others we have been depending on.

Why is that Mac?

Baylor has been starting 2 bigs, with Manning on the wing it will force one of there big guys to guard out on the wing taking away the rebounding advantage they would have. Every coach in the big 12 knows Manning, Little, Gabby, and Wyatt are legit 3 point shooters so you have to respect them.

It's times like this we really miss Cater, she can get to the rim at will off the dribble.

Very interesting. I'd love to see Sherri try that because I suspect you are right. Because Gioya doesnt know when she will be back on the court, in the meantime Treese should help on rebounding where I think we are weakest. If her defense holds up she could be a great help.

You can tell Sherri really likes Treece. She provided energy as well as scoring which is exactly what we need from the bench.

Sherri loves it when any of her younger bench players steps up to show what might be possible. She has been excited about T'Ona, Shaya, EJ, and Gileysa as they stepped up in parts of a game.

But, I think Sherri will go with the five who play together the best. Right now, that is our current starting five. Unless Gioya comes back, McKenna or T'Ona or whoever must demonstrate consistency on the court in all phases of the game in order to be considered for a starting role. That hasn't happened yet. The potential is there, and it may arise in a given game.

I like T'Ona and her athleticism. And she looks impressive running the point most of the time. But the kid simply hasn't shown the ability to shoot the basketball, at least not consistently.

T'Ona does not learn. How many times has she driven into the basket and had her shot blocked or lost the ball? How many times has she dribbled the ball off her foot when driving to the basket(three that I can remember and I'm 77). But she does not learn. If she developed a pull-up jumpshot she might be effective offensively but not until then. She just doesnt learn.

She hit the 3 a couple of times the last few games of last year so I think she can still hit if left open. I think she and LaNesia just don't have the confidence in their shots. You can tell some times that when LaNesia gets the ball and open that she's thinking about shooting but doesn't and then tries to drive the lane when if she were confident, she would have just naturally shot the jumper. It just going to take playing time for LaNesia to get that confidence. T'Ona just needs to learn when and when not to drive for layup. She won the game at Wash with her layup but many times there are too many bigs in the lane to be successful. She's getting more playing time this year and I expect her to improve on shooting when open and being successful.

Good points, all.

I have more confidence in Treece becoming a consistent scorer than LaNesia. I think Treece is gonna be a big time factor next year and the year after. She has a really good stroke and you can see she has the confidence to take the shot.

Let's give McKenna a few games to show what she can do. Ten minutes isn't enough time.
