• New Maryland coach Mark Turgeon spent part of Friday interviewing Kansas State assistant coach Dalonte Hill. KSU coach Frank Martin isn't sure if Hill will take the gig if offered but admits it would be tough for him to turn down going home to the Beltway area.

Hill is the reason Michael Beasley went to Kansas State. He's also the reason the pipeline continued with Wally Judge (who later transferred to Rutgers), Jamar Samuels and Rodney McGruder. Hill was the former coach of DC Assault. His ties in the DC-Baltimore area would certainly be a boost for Turgeon as he gets his feet wet in the area. Turgeon is not nave. He knows he needs a strong local presence in the fertile recruiting territory.

Would be a great move for Turgeon and Maryland. Hill's ties seem to have dried up at ksu, but he'll probably be a great recruiter once he moves back east. Can't be easy to convince kids from DC to play in Manhattan, kansas.

Can't be easy to convince kids from anywhere to play in Manhattan, Kansas.

sure, but ISU had a lot of NYC kids when Floyd and Eustachy had good teams. sell the mom on a safe place to be. a lot of kids are happy to get that too.

now, the world is a lot different these days with every 19 year old a superstar self-promoter on Facebook, it's not impossible. during the Blake years, some top OK kids went north to the Little Apple.

college is college, enclosed environment. there are good looking girls at every school....parties where athletes get the special treatment, etc. with personal communication technologies, it's not like going to Manhattan, KS is completely a trip to 1961. you can still watch and text all you want. get your network thing on.

for me, if they brought back the two toned purples....i would think about it.

would be good for both hill and kstate, hope it happens.
