Unranked Tuttle is peaking at the right time.
The Tigers upset Class 4A No. 5 Ardmore 49-46 on Saturday to advance to the state tournament for the first time since 1983.
“It’s been so cool, to be honest,” Tuttle coach Brian Lester said.
Tuttle (18-11) grinded out the win, avenging a regional tournament loss to Ardmore. Tuttle played six games in eight days to make the tournament, beating four ranked opponents in a row.
Lester said the momentum started following an early season loss to Kingfisher. He challenged his team, knowing it had potential for a deep playoff run.
Seniors Faith Laffloon and Maddie Wall caught fire in the postseason, entering Saturday shooting 50 percent from 3-point range.
And now the Tigers are back in The Big House.
“We are playing one more week,” Lester said. “It’s unbelievable for us, to be honest.”
