Am I the only one who is concerned about tomorrow night’s game? Former OU assistant, Steve Henson’s, UTSA team is picked to finish second in Conference USA. UTSA also returns two hot shooting guards who are preseason picks for the all-conference team.

I think OU will have to play really well to win this game, and after watching this team struggle on defense against Southeastern last week, I’m not sure we’re ready.

What say you?

Dang, they're picked high in that conference. Anybody know what ever happened to Buford after he transferred there?

85-83 OU

I don't think he ever played a game for them.

No Doolittle for this game. It will make the game tougher for us.

Am I the only one who is concerned about tomorrow night’s game?

I'm always concerned about early games (which is why I expressed concern the past two seasons about our tough non-conference schedule -- and my concerns were proven unfounded both times). I certainly think we'll have to play well to win tomorrow night, but I also think we'll see an improvement, offensively and defensively, on our performance in the exhibition game. The coaches will have had a week of teaching based on that outing and any new guys who were a little nervous that night should be a bit more settled in this time.

But I won't be surprised if UTSA gives us all we want (and maybe more) in the opener. You know Henson will have his team ready to play, that's for sure; I'm sure he circles all of his games against the Sooners in bright red.. I'll be happy with a one-point win -- anything more than that will be icing on the cake.

Can you say why Doolittle can't play? Injury or suspension?

If Doolittle is out I bet UTSA wins in a close one... 78-73 something like that.

He isn't injured. I believe it is a one game deal but not sure. He hasn't done anything bad just one of those things. I'm sure it will be out tomorrow or Wednesday.

Thanks.

C'mon man! Senior leader?

I have to be honest the more I think about it, we should win even without Doolittle. I mean, we're talking about losing to UTSA at home, after all the talk of how deep we should be. I know weird things can happen in a first game, but if we can't beat them at home Doolittle or no Doolittle, we really do have a long way to go. I would think we should beat them just on physical prowess and talent. I change my prediction, 85-76 OU.

Right.... but Doolittle is the best and most experienced player on a team picked near the bottom in the league. All the "talk" about depth and all that is just offseason talk... The team got a combined 2 points out of Williams, Merritt, and Kur in the exhibition.

It's a scary game without Doolittle.

So he isn't injured, but is having to a miss game because he hasn't done anything bad? I'm a little confused. I guess we will find out tomorrow.

Seems to me vbdad was saying it wasn't a major misdeed on Doolittle's part, but obviously a big enough deal to justify making him sit for a game.

Also may explain why, as one of our posters noted, Doo played very little in the SMU scrimmage -- coaches must have already decided he wasn't going to play tomorrow and therefore decided to give the team a chance to play with the group they will have tomorrow.

You are correct!

Fair enough. IF this is the case, this is a pretty big opportunity for Kur, Iwaukor and even Williams to begin to solidify or even expand their role.

As far as including Williams above (and yes I know he is a guard), he is going to play a lot this season regardless.....but to me, he looks like a guy that could play the 4 (from an athletic standpoint) if OU ever decided to go really small out of necessity or strategy (of course Hill is 6'7 and could also fill that spot along the same lines). This is just a one-off, "what if" scenario if we were to be without Doolittle and Manek at the same time.
