To win a men's basketball national championship or a women's basketball national championship and why? Officiating is not a reason. :)

I voted women's because there seems to be more dominant programs. Lot's of parity in mens basketball now. Wichita State, VCU, Butler, George Mason have all been in final four recently.

The landscape of the men's game can change from year to year and in the women's game you have girls staying for four years and programs can basically load up. I think once you get the horses it's easier to win on the men's side. Even though this was a down year the two best teams were probably there at the end. It's much harder to break into the top tier in the women's game.

Essentially why I voted that the women's game is harder to break into the top tier.

I think it's harder to win on the men's side. Because there are not that many great teams in women's basketball, it makes it easier to get to the final four. From there, anything can happen. There are a bunch of men's teams capable of getting to the final four.

I think KC has it right. The traditional powers in men's basketball are hamstrung by "one and done". They recruit the best players, but then can't hold them long enough to develop a team. It's actually easier for a next level down team to get to the Final Four on the men's side. For the women, it's still pretty much the same teams with one of the others occasionally rising up.
