1. Maddie will become a starter within 60 days.

2. LaNesia will become a starter within 60 days.

3. Kornet will become a starter within 60 days.

4. Carter will remain a starter for the rest of the year.

Even though more than one is possible, please choose only one.

I would say #1 or #2 taking over for Carter. With Gabbi and Little at the guards Maddie will need to come in at the 3 if she is to start.

LaNesia has played very well in the three home games-I would vote for her.

Not what I would do, but I think the coaching staff will keep Gioya as the starter, and substitute the others in both as fresh players, and give longer playing time to whoever is hot, and those who complete their assignments/basic bb play.
Also Maddie will spell Gabbi (Gabi?) some at point. Not mutualy exclusive to start at the 3 and be back-up point of course.
Nicole really helps "2nd" team stability and positioning.
LaNesia really looks good, but remains a freshman

Actually I like Maddie off the bench because she can come in for multiple positions. Of course, if she really becomes our best player than she starts and Carter goes to the bench.

With the way Sherri rotates and the talent and depth we have is starting really that important?

In the grand scheme of things, probably not. But, generally coaches start their best players and it gives those starters a sense of reward and accomplishment for being recognized by their coach as 1 of the 5 best players on the team.

L. Williams becomes the starter.

In my opinion, Sherri IS starting her best players, and that's why Gioya has been on the floor for the opening tip so far this year. Having said that, Maddie or LaNesia or Nicole (maybe all three) may very well be better than Carter at some point this season. If that happens, one of those will likely replace Gioya.

I thought Carter played a great game and was very effective as a starter in our win Friday night. And she did so even though almost everyone on this board was convinced she had already lost her starting spot.

I think that Sherri will find that she needs Maddie on the floor untile Gabi learns how to get the ball inside. Gabi didn't have one assist against Bradley, and she did throw it away trying to get it inside a couple of times. She doesn't seem to drive. I think we need Maddie to get the ball on an inside-out flow.

I think ...
1. Kornet is the leadership/glue for the backups.

2. I think Ortiz's development at PG against tougher competition will play a big factor. If Sherri perceives that she needs more help the I can see Manning starting to give Sherri two Point players.

3. If Manning does not ascend to starting. It's a simple question as to whether Carter can hold off LaNesia.

I don't think she can.
in 60 days LaNesia will be starting.

In my opinion, Sherri has no thoughts of replacing Gabbi at the point. Gabbi is beginning to score a decent amount (9 against Bradley with a good shooting percentage), she advances the ball down court better than any point we have had since Stacey, she doesn't get excited, no excessive dribbling (how long as it been since we can say that about a PG), she is second on the team in assists behind Peyton, and she seems to be executing the offense just the way Sherri expects. She is leading the team in minutes played which tells me Sherri wants her on the floor and likes what she sees. Her defense isn't great but isn't bad either, which is what I would say about just about everyone on the team. The only negative about her is the number of turnovers but I think she can improve in that department. Not saying she is a lock to stay in the starting rotation at the point but someone is going to really have to elevate their game to put her on the bench, IMO.

When we have a decent lead, I hope that Sherri will continue with the two platoons. I thought both platoons played well the other night.

Gioya had her best game of the season against Bradley, and played to the potential I have seen her show. We are going to play three really tough opponents this week and that will tell us how much Gioya has grown. If I was to gaze in my refurbished crystal ball, I would say Maddie would be the starter in 60 days. Once we hit the Big 12 schedule, I think rebounding will be very important. With Maddie's length and fearless nature, I think she would be the asset we need. However, there is a strong case for LaNesia too, but I just don't see us going to that small of a line up with Gabi at the point, and Gabi ain't coming out. Just my opinion. She is the motor that keeps us moving. She will get better and better as the season rolls on.

Good post. I really hope that Maddie does become a starter. I think we all see potential in her game and it would be great to have her height/length on the court. It would mean that she is playing consistently well and very effectively. But, as long as Gioya plays like she did against Bradley, I don't think Sherri will replace her. She loves Gioya and she continued to start her even when most here questioned whether she deserved to be a starter. After Bradley, I say she does deserve to hang on to the starting job, at least for now.

So, my crystal ball (which has never been very reliable) says, Gioya remains a starter the rest of the year. When Gioya is playing really well, she is tough on both ends of the court.

I don't think Gabi is coming out. She is a part of the future and the point guard to whom Sherri has committed for that future. There are things that she doesn't do well. Sherri jerked her for getting trapped. She might get jerked for not getting the ball inside. Thus far, Gabi doesn't seem to want to drive in among the trees.

It isn't necessary for your point to be the assist leader if you have others on the floor who are doing that. Several have shown flashes that suggest that they can feed the ball to the open man. Carter and Little can both pass and move, although Carter is probably not the one that you want on the floor a lot since she is not the shooter that Little is.

If you have Gabi on the floor, you will probably need LaNesia or Maddie on the floor along with Little. Somebody has to get the ball inside.

Everyone is pushing the ball this year, not just Gabi. It's interesting that I've seen Kay Kay breaking for midcourt when others are still under the boards getting the rebound. You would think that she would be under the boards. But, everyone seems to be getting the ball moving once we secure a rebound.

We'll learn a lot more in the next three games. But, I don't think Gioya will remain on the court unless she finds a a new energy, and practices her shooting.

I think everyone wants to put all the best players on the court at the same time, however, I think that is a mistake. I think when you need the best on the court is the last ten minutes. This team needs a floor leader for the second unit which is why Maddie is on the second unit. You combine that fact with an idea that they are letting her work back into it carefully because of the ACLs. Right now, I don't think she is as explosive as she was as a frosh. It will take time. However, her court vision and passing ability is off the charts.

I think Sherri is going to keep the same lineup this year. I think Gioya starts and plays unless she gets in foul trouble. I think the hot hands will play the last ten minutes in close games. The second unit with Maddie, Laneisa, Kornet, and either ViVi or Treace is stout. OU is going to wear some teams down with the depth this year.

Guessing.......no changes. However, if Gioya doesn't keep it up and even improve, she doesn't start but I have no idea who will come in for her. Laneicia, maybe......Maddie, maybe.

I also think the starters will very possibly vary from team to team when conference starts depending upon the match-up. If not who starts, then how quickly someone else comes in.

Whatever happens I like the fact that every girl out there knows there's someone behind her and wants those minutes. I like a little competition.
