Who are these guys?

geeeeeeez ... this is the best we've played all year. let's enjoy it instead of arguing over who is a real fan.

ever notice all the guys we are losing next year are numbered 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5?

Some of these "bad fans" had season tickets for decades. Apparently we have a difference of opinion of what makes for a quality fan.

Exactly! I don’t have season tickets, can’t even go to games anymore. But I’m darned sure a loyal fan who has not been shy about expressing my feelings a few times this season.

If that upsets a self-righteous few who set themselves up as guardians of this board, so be it. As others have correctly stated, a difference of opinion when debated in a civil manner, as most do here, is the lifeblood of a fan board. If everyone agreed, this would be a boring place.

You setting the rules on OUHoops now, Coach?

I have been on basketball fan boards for going on two decades, been on this board for more than ten years. I didn’t know critcizing a team when they were playing like crap, as this team certainly did at times this season, was against the rules. Thanks for telling me!

Well said Ada. I get so tired of this "holier than thou" crap after we have a great performance. Some people just can't enjoy the win without getting their shots in.

Love how some of you feel like you should be able to complain and criticize whenever you want, but when you get called out by anyone, then it suddenly becomes, "hey, everyone be nice, there is no need to argue, we should all enjoy the win." So I guess the next time we lose or play poorly, the same should apply and we should all just calmly reflect on things rather than declaring the program an embarrassment and identifying random coaches around the country we would rather have than Lon.

Let's beat Virginia!!

My perception of this entire season came down to today. My biggest issue going in was that we were 1-9 against the other B12 teams that made the tourney. And in about half of those games we were completely non-competitive and looked downright unprepared to play. It was a weird season at 19-13 in that those results were really fine based on my expectations, but many times OU did not pass the eye test.

Had they lost today it would have been a very very “meh” year for me with really to really get excited about. But today was big. They were exceptionally good. And that includes all aspects: preparation, effort, execution, toughness. It was an A+ day for the program and validates making the tournament. I don’t have much hope for Sunday, but I’ll look forward to seeing them take a shot. It’s a gravy game for me now—I’m happy for the seniors and for Lon. Been a fairly tough 3 year stretch with some down times. Glad they got to have at least one more really good moment. In one day for me this season went from mild disappointment to success.

How could you possibly want to enjoy this great moment in our season when we have topics that have been beaten to death this year to argue about?! We should clearly hold off on celebrating this victory while we take care of more important matters.

OK...let's get one thing straight. The team finished 7-11 in the big 12 and was 1-9 vs the other 5 teams from the Big 12 who made the tourney. A number of those losses we didn't look competitive. That's a ****ty performance for an Oklahoma basketball program and deserving of criticism. Lon took over a dumpster fire but the last 3 years have been somewhat of a dumpster fire too, all of his own making. The recruiting has been crap except for Trae Young and the performance on the court up to today has validated that. So, let's not pretend we have been a sweet 16 program who experienced one bad year in conference play.

The criticism has been valid. If you disagree, then so be it, I really don't care.

If you gave up on them in the last 2 months. Don’t cheer for them now
I take exception to this.

I think anyone who is worried about us setting up shop in the bottom of the conference standings is validated in their concerns.

Personally, I think the program is leaking a little oil. So I need to find somewhere else to go to talk Sooner hoops? Against our peers, the teams we see twice a year or more, we're the worst in the league over a three-year span. I don't think that's acceptable, so now I can't be thrilled to death that we won a game in the NCAA Tournament?

If only the sunshine can be pumped then I'll re-read the memo of membership around here. As aggravated as I was at this batch of seniors for their continued shortcomings, I am that proud of their performance today. That's part of what makes them so maddening. They shouldn't be the worst team in the Big 12 over a three-year span. They shouldn't be laying egg after egg in Kansas City. But they are, and that frustrates me.

So now my frustration keeps me from being able to celebrate on here with my friends because I don't toe the company line? That's BS.

By my preseason metric, this is a successful season. I saw .500. I saw 16 wins, maybe. I was obviously wrong. But the team we saw today shouldn't be getting their doors blown off at home to Baylor and K-State. This team shouldn't be losing two out of three to West Virginia. But they did. A team that can play like today shouldn't be 7-11 in the Big 12 Conference. A team like today should be defending the home court and grabbing their share on the road.

I am ecstatic about the win. I'm frustrated with the direction of the program. And that makes me a bad fan? That makes me a bandwagoner? I think that's crap. And I think the policing of alternative viewpoints around here is chicken****. I want to win.

Fantastic post my man!

Very well said. My thoughts exactly.

Y’all are doing more complaining about someone’s post saying y’all can’t cheer for OU then actually congratulating the team. That’s what’s frustrating to me. You can be upset about the conference record, I get that. However, after a win some people take backhanded shots like “why don’t we play like this all the time”, “they are playing hard for once”. No team can play great all the time & this team consistently plays hard. I appreciate how this team has played this season & am happy with 20 wins with a brutal schedule, ncaa bid & win.

Now let’s get ready to pound Gardner Webb (fingers crossed)
