I am a little suprised that Beers was not selected but she doesn't play tall. I guess it is a statement on our talent level overall that neither she or Verhulst got a look. Suprised that this board hasn't picked up on the transfer of Keeley Parks to OU yet.

Read somewhere last week that Verhulst asked to not be considered for the draft.

Perhaps Beers can play overseas. Could she play power forward like Jim Lusutoff of the old Boston Celtics, a bruiser on the boards?

I honestly think beers was mismanaged. The fact that she was only limited to 22 minutes really affected her production and I know a lot of that fell on beers but there were times that she wasn't in foul trouble but still not out on the court or some of the offensive schemes just simply didn't involve her. Could very well be something perspective centers look at when considering transferring to OU and it could definitely hurt us

Yes. There is a lot of talk about that. It’s unfortunate but she dropped considerably this year, after being called a potential top ten draftee last year. It’s also why they lost Vann. It will be hard to get recruits when a team is focused on one girl. Parks is from here and Chavez and Speiser are friends. Great gets, but we’ve yet to land a transfer who without a connection. And a vet is what we need.

I agree so far we've lost out on every big we have pursued and if we don't bring in a big this team will not be good next year. 6'2 and 6'3 forwards are just not going to be enough. Chavez will have to improve drastically to create offense for her teammates otherwise we could be looking at a team that is bottom half in the league next season.

One thing I have not noticed yet with JB is the player actually developing under her. Like noticeable jumps from one season to the next. Vann does not count because she didn't play much her freshman season, before anyone brings that one up.

No. You’re absolutely right. Vann is the reason my family started watching women’s basketball as much as we do now. Then, we learned of Lofton when Vann went to Bethany. That’s why I am so hard on the way they’re used (or not). Some of you don’t even know how good they really are. When people say Lofton needs offense, I just laugh. She was the best player in the state and number 10 in the country before injuries. Her offense is so crafty and smooth, but they didn’t utilize it. Vann didn’t develop this year. She looked worse. Her family agrees, so this isn’t a knock. Another example is Williams. Still wild and out of control with her passes, and missing layups. We can go down the list. They need a big, a vet guard and a development coach. And they have to focus on every player.
