WOW is all I can say. Never know what they are gonna bring. Throwing up wild shots / bricking open shots / turnovers out the wazzoo. Worst i have seen all year.

Agreed. And more of the same for the first 10 minutes of the second half. Considering what happened in Ames, this was an opportunity wasted.

Offensively, we can't just depend on Aaryn. We need some other players to step up.

Defensively, we need more focus and urgency from everyone.

Most of the team just looked like they didn't really care.

I think it was still a hangover from the Iowa St. game. There was one less day to rest since it was a Thursday game.

Iowa State didn't do much better, either. The OU/Iowa State game was just emotionally draining.

Couldn't see the game of course. Stat sheet seemed to be balanced offensively.

Looks like no one played defense though.

I'm a little worried Iowa State took all the gas out of our tank -- for the rest of the season.

No sure wins from here on out after today's performance.

The final stat sheet doesn't show how bad we looked offensively in the first half. At one point McFarland was 2-12 and Vegas 2-14. They both had several 3 pointers go halfway down and come back out. Morgan had about 5 layups roll around the rim and off. The first 10 minutes of the second half looked about the same. By the time we woke up, it was too little too late, and then we couldn't get stops. In all fairness, KU played pretty inspired.

I know this is making excuses and crying over spilt milk, but if we had EITHER Hand or Manning, we win this game easily, and probably win the last one also.

Thanks for the info Tango, but, somehow, that makes me feel even worse.

You know, Morgan's shot started disappearing about 10 games ago and it hasn't come back. Now AE and Jo have the same disease the last couple of games.

This is a big part of the reason I think the girls' tanks are empty and we may be on the verge of a slide.

Tango, I catch myself thinking about next year (although I know I shouldn't because we still have some very important games left this year) when we will have much more depth. Those injuries were just devastating.

I'll say even more. KU is pretty good. They have two excellent guards, a very good big girl, two other athletic bigs, and a girl that plays in your jersey defense on whoever she guards. In a way they remind me of someone like A$M. Plus they have a very good coach. They were able to penetrate and move the ball around. It seemed like we always were fighting through players, arms, and legs to get anywhere. Our bounce passes never had a free lane and neither did much else. We have a history of having problems with a team that is athletic and aggressive like that.

Jo may have started out slow but she played very well down the stretch. Nicole was by far the star today. She looked very good on offense and played very well on defense despite having to bang with Davis. Yes, there times she couldn't handle her but that happens a lot. She was so gassed near the end but there wasn't any help. It might not have shown on TV but in person she looked like she needed CPR. I was proud of the way she fought.

I don't know what to about Vegas. If she's not hitting she might as well be on the bench. I know she needs to shoot but this dribbling the ball all over and then seemingly launching it the minute she gets it isn't working for me. I'm not sure that I'm sold on this hoping she gets hot stuff. I know she had some go in and out but when they go out they kill us. Toss in how many fumbled possessions out of bounds and you just can't give this team all those extra chances.

Well maybe. Remember we played basically this same team last year with Whitney having an excellent game and it took overtime to win. I think we could have used KK or Cloman just as much. That girl was murdering us down low.

Vegas and Morgan may be going through mini-slumps. Both played with a noticeable lack of focus. About %50 of the time Nicole doesnt have a very good idea of what is going on around her. Her court awareness is limited.
I expect all but Nicole will regain form very quickly. Nicole's problem is just the way it is. She works hard and improves but still doesnt know what's happening around her much of the time.

Here's something I noticed about Nicole. If you watch warmups they have drill where they get the ball on the FT, back to the basket, and hold it and bounce to a cutter. She gets the ball - in the game - like that and bends over and holds it like she's waiting waiting for cutters or something. Usually there's no one between her, the girl defenser her, and the basket. It seems to me that she could maybe drive or at least face up to the hoop. Sometimes I think if the girl fell down she wouldn't notice.

If we keep this sh!t up I may be the final womens basketball fan left on SF.com... I may have to resort to posting endless photos of our team (and especially Sherri) to get anyone else interested... hell, that's how I got them all interested in the first place.

Seriously, I NEVER, EVER, NEVER NEVER NEVER want to be forced to turn to bowling on ESPN again due to an atrocious Sherri Sooners Sunday showing. If you point out that's an alliteration, I will screeeeeeeam

I've never liked the color pink. I'm a married woman so I have no interest in cheerleaders. I mean, they were cool when we traveled with them for basketball tournament, so go cheerleaders, but opposing cheerleaders, meh (Texas A&M cheerleaders = BIG meh)
