Guys/Gals give me your thoughts - will this team make it to the Big Dance?

I'm not sure myself, some nights we play OU basketball and other nights we play jr high basketball. What I don't understand about last night's game is how you don't or can't guard a 3 pt shooter, shot the high percentage that OU shot and lose a game - doesn't make sense to me.

I don't want to get down on Vegas but I don't think she is having the year that she has had in the past - could it be because the talent around her or lack of and she is trying to carry this team.

I am still going to say we make the NCAA tourney only because it would be pitiful if we don't.

K-State was only shooting 27% from BTA before last night, but that was probably because other teams had guarded them from the 3 point line. OU looked like they didn't feel it was necessary and it killed them. Ellenberg is probably feeling the pressure of trying to carry this team with her scoring. When she shoots it well, they usually win, when she doesn't, they usually lose. This team needs all five on the floor doing their job and stop the stupid fouls and turnovers. This is about the most inconsistent team I've seen under Sherri Coale. You never know what you're going to get with them from game to game other than bad defense, which has been consistently bad. If they make it to the NCAA Tournament, I think it will be a tight fit for sure.

I am not sure if there are enough to field a full 64-team bracket, because it's not as cutthroat as the men's side. But, if we keep losing to everyone and their little sister state program, we are WNIT at best, home after an early Big 12 tourney exit at worst.

There's a shred of hope: They even gave the 2005 team a bid, and gave them an 8-seed to boot. That was one of Sherri's worst recent squads (let's not count the early dark ages) and it was very much in question whether the NCAAs would extend a bid.

We promptly rewarded them by exiting in the first round that year:(

Unless and until this team understands and accepts and practices good defense we will have these frustrating ups and downs.

How long has it been since we lost to a team with a losing record?

Can we blame our cruddy defense on the new reffing rules? I mean, how can we play defense if we're in foul trouble? If we know that the littlest movement will result in a foul call? How can we keep opponents from scoring if all they have to do is dribble drive and get sent to the free throw line?

Consistent defense is what it's going to take for this team to put together an NCAA run. The offensive firepower just isn't there. Outside of AE none of the other girls are "scorers" right now. Hook, Griffin and Campbell are capable of getting 20+ any night but more often you're going to get 10-12 points. And no one off the bench or even the 5th starter has stepped up. KK has decent numbers about every 4th game, Carter looked like she might be the answer earlier this year but her production has trailed off dramatically the past month. They are going to have to D up and block out and try to generate offense in transition.

I believe there is strong possibility we will make it, but if we make it I believe we are one and done.

I think Aaryn is in the same boat with Odyssey in that they are the leaders of the team and feel the need to do everything themselves and score 25+ pts. in order to win. Odyssey is beginning to trust the other players around her to score and pick up the slack. Even though her scoring has dropped, her assists and rebs have increased. We have a lot of young players and it really takes them a few months to believe in the system.

In order to win it starts with defense and rebounding. Sune and Kave have decided that if they are not gonna score then they are grabbing a rebound. Nina has emerged as a nice find and should be freshman of the year.

OU will make the NCAA tournament. Sherri will find a way to get everyone on the same page peaking at the right moment..........hoping it's not Mon. night!!

I think the Kids over looked this game becuase we had 2 big wins back to back, we should still make the dance.
