Old Big 8 schools they have dropped 16 men's athletic programs because of cost since 1975. They include gymnastics, tennis, baseball, swimming and wrestling programs. Some schools such as Colorado, KSU and ISU having only 6 men's sports and they count track & field and cross country as two sports. The primary quasi-major sports discontinued were baseball and tennis.
