#10 OU vs #5 South Carolina 3:30pm 3/8 SEC Tournament

23-15 USC up after Q1. They are doing a great job of getting good mid range looks and making them. We are 1-6 from 3…have to shoot better

45-28 at half. We stayed close until the last 5 minutes of the half and then South Carolina went on a run. South Carolina athleticism just too much…Fuwiley great again vs us.

Also going to make an excuse but 3rd game in 3 days likely making us play with tired legs..not what you want vs the incredible athletes they have.

And its just like the men always playing in KC, when you play the jay squawks its 8 vs 5, same here, they don't need any help but they are getting it. NIL is ruining women's basketball just like it is every other sport. Take on look at Vic Schaefer and tell me a teenage girl wants to play for him instead of JB? Of course not its all about the $$$. And I can't believe other schools in the SEC coaches and AD sit still for having the tournament in SC or for that matter anywhere every year. There are at least a dozen arenas that could host it and have the hotels to support it, including btw right here in River City.

70-54 after 3. We shot better this quarter and kept it from being gross like last time. But South Carolina focused and playing well and answered the run we had.

Regarding it being in Greenville…the SEC is a business enterprise.. not about a fair competition. They have the most fans due to their long term success so they can guarantee the most revenue.

Also yes we haven’t gotten the breaks on the calls. Frustrating

Sorry the more fans reason doesn't wash, SC didn't play the first two days, and the arena was largely empty, there were even quite a few empty seats today. Dallas, OKC Little Rock, KC or St Louis, Nashville, Atlanta, Orlando, the list of places that could hold it goes on and on. If you want to increase attendance how about someplace more centrally located, like say Nashville

I usually don't complain about officiating, and I know beating them is a tall task with calls going our way, but IMO the calls were BAD in their favor most of the game.

Softball fans have been saying the same thing about location of the WCWS. OKC gives OU a distinct advantage. BTW, todays officiating seemed biased towards SC.

So we now know OU has a ceiling. Making the Sweet 16 is it. They will never, with the current level of talent Jennie is getting, make it past the Sweet 16. They aren't athletic or good enough to overcome the talent difference with the teams above them.

Jennie whiffing badly in 2025 recruiting will reap bad rewards in the coming years, unfortunately. But we know OU has a higher floor than some teams, but a lower ceiling.

Poor schools like OU, NIL-wise, have to pick and choose what sports they support heavily.

No offense, but you might want to dig a little deeper on Schaefer. I can’t stand the team he’s with now, but he’s one dang good coach. The guy got Mississippi State to back-to-back national championship games, & snapped UConn’s 111 game winning streak in getting to the first one. I don’t like it any more than anyone else here, but sometimes you gotta give the devil his due.

Recruiting isn’t that big a deal. The portal is much bigger. Get one or two good ones each year and you’ll be fine. And no, they are an elite 8 team this year

I decided years ago that conference tournaments exist solely to make money for the conferences. There were years that Kelvin's teams busted their tails to win the conference tournament when they weren't predicted to and it didn't increase their seeding in the NCAA tournament a bit. The only time these tournaments seem to help teams is if a team wis the tournament and gets the automatic bid when that's the only way they can get into the NCAA tournament.

Beers was neutralized by SC, that was problem number one. Problem number two was that OK’s players cannot match up athletically to SC’s roster. It was like watching ponies trying to outrace thoroughbreds.

Yes the officiating was terrible. Half of the fouls called on Oklahoma were absolutely not fouls at all but hey it happens when the team is basically at home. Oklahoma had 22 fouls called on them and South Carolina only had 13 definitely a kinda difference..

I personally thought we were doing very well, we were down 6 or 7 pts then until we had 3 straight turnovers which turned into a disaster to make it by double digits lead for SC.
If this team can limit turnovers we really honestly could do some damage in the NCAA Tournament IMO. Like we literally were in the game until the 3 straight turnovers when we were already down by 6 or 7 like I said above. In the first half Oklahoma had 10 turnovers, after the game, Oklahoma only ended up with 16 turnovers. Just imagine OU could have limited those turnovers in the first half… It would have been a single digit ball game. But I guess it also doesn’t help when the refs are also calling everything on Oklahoma. Whats crazy is I watch so many defensive plays that South Carolina would do then OU go do it on the defensive end and get it called on them but SC didn’t… That was very frustrating to watch. Very.

Also Zya Vann coming out very emotional hurt to watch because that alone lets me know she wanted to keep playing but these refs were cooking them on fouls that were not fouls🤧😞

Raegan Beers didn’t score much and we still played against SC decently despite the 1st half 10 turnovers and all the fouls called on OU.

I notice a lot of yall like to say we just aren’t athletic enough but I think otherwise. Sure we aren’t as athletic but this game definitely came down to us turning the ball over and the foul calling on OU. Because if you exclude some of those two things this is a completely different ball game. COMPLETELY Different.

Idk personally I thought we match’d up well with SC. We just didn’t take care of the ball and couldn’t get a break from getting a foul called on OU.

SC were 19-24 at the Free throws. That alone is crazy numbers. 19 points off free throws and Oklahoma loss by 18. And Mind you Half of those fouls weren’t fouls.

something tells me SC will get the favoritism against Texas tomorrow too just because they are basically home. We already know if they cooked Oklahoma on fouls in the Semi Finals then they definitely will cook Texas in the SEC championship game with fouls too.

And I'll laugh and laugh if that happens.
