#10 OU vs #5 South Carolina 3:30pm 3/8 SEC Tournament

Idk personally I thought we match’d up well with SC. We just didn’t take care of the ball and couldn’t get a break from getting a foul called on OU.

SC were 19-24 at the Free throws. That alone is crazy numbers. 19 points off free throws and Oklahoma loss by 18. And Mind you Half of those fouls weren’t fouls.
Somewhere in your thoughts you thought OK was a match for SC? Lost by 41 first time, and lost again by a boatload second time around. You thinking the refs were the cause? Keep thinking that way, but it is way off the mark. Even with Beers, OK was outclassed and outmatched by a country mile both times. It’s time to regroup and change the game plan going fwd, OK has now faced the best and got TKO’d each time, learn and get better or face the mat again. Not rocket science. Have to recruit to SEC level athletes now. Happened in FB also. The SEC doesn’t play around, no team can take any other team for granted, and once you see the best, you better learn fast what it takes to be in the game.

Texas learned the same lesson today and got their azz kicked. This is a whole different level now fans.

Ok yea you are definitely pushing it. This is also our first year in the SEC. For Oklahoma’s first year in the SEC they did pretty damn good with the squad Jennie has. If you watch Dawn Stanley press conference. She will tell you herself it took her years to catch up on the recruiting world and she did. It will take time for Oklahoma and Jennie to start recruiting SEC top talent, it does not happen overnight. You are acting like we are a Missouri or Arkansas team which is very much not. Yes we absolutely can compete with teams like SC if we can take better care of the ball. Its not Rocket science to go look at the game and look at the turnovers and fouls and see had we at least cut half of that down in that game we are VERY much so in the game with South Carolina.

Texas got dominated because they could not shoot. SC was draining 3’s on Texas which Texas are terrible at shooting 3’s.

Texas Issue is they couldn’t shoot. Oklahoma issues was turnovers and foul problems.
I don’t think Oklahoma struggled with shooting, sure at times we did but most times we didn’t.

Isn’t that what I said…? It’s time to regroup, review the landscape and make plans. You thinking the OK turnover issue was just sloppy play? It was forced by the superior defenses being faced now. The B12 model doesn’t work in the SEC. It takes diff athletes and better players. OK would lose 9 out of ten times to a team like SC right now with the way their roster is built. All I am saying is the ante is upped in this league. You learn and get better or the days of competing for championships are behind OK. This stuff is real now. FB facing the same issues.

The days of one or two big games a year in the B12 are over, every game is a war now. That is what OK bought into, so it’s time to adjust or be average. This damned conference is no quarters asked nor given. Texas is further along the road of building SEC caliber championship teams right now tbs, but they know there is little room for error now even at their level. They just got a beat down again.

Some turnovers are caused by bad passes. Some are caused by good plays by the defense. Some are caused by blind officials. I don't know what you think the Big XII model was but the two former Big XII teams were in the top four of the conference tournament with whatever model they brought to the table. There are 12 other SEC teams who have been in the SEC much longer than we have who would like to have been in our shoes. Do we need to get better players? Of course we do. We've always known that. Jennie will always try to upgrade our talent but I don't think we will ever throw millions of dollars at players like Texas and Texas Tech seem willing to do. If that's what you are looking for you will probably be disappointed.

I think we played as well against South Carolina as any team did. Played them closer than UT did, as they were pretty much out of it immediately against them. I think fatigue did factor into this, but we have to be realistic that unless a team full of 10 all-americans is horribly coached, they SHOULD be able to beat a team with only 3, such as OU. I'd say we did better than UT as they have much more talent than we have, so i'm not that mad about losing. SC was on a mission to prove something.

I hope we keep our #3 seed in the NCAAs and get a favorable draw and make it to the S16 at least. I'd be upset if we didn't make it to the 2nd weekend.
