I sure would like to see us work on not throwing the ball away while "being aggressive". And not shooting 0 for 5 and just shoot the same shot again. UGG
Who are the best? That changes every night. They were in foul trouble. The difference was when Reagan was back in second half sad we started sharing the ball for assists.Having your best players on the court instead of sitting on the bench makes a difference.
The best does change every night, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. Last night we had 3 players with 16 or more points and Beers and Williams had 8 and 9. Florida was dependent on one fabulous player.Who are the best? That changes every night. They were in foul trouble. The refs were ridiculous. I rarely complain about them. There was a point in the first half I was scratching my head, because Vann was sitting so long. The best does change every night, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. I agree that we were killed by the refs in the 1st half. Most of the calls against us seemed to be correct but they swallowed their whistles when we were on offense. Culliton had only one basket but she was fouled twice on the basket she scored. But I have to give credit to the players on the court when we had 5 players on the bench with 2 fouls each. They. kept us within striking distance.
Which guard? On Florida's team? That guard was #2 or #3 player in her class. Don't think she is likely to head to OU but you never know!
This is what I’ve been preaching for months. You all who don’t know her, haven’t even seen her real game. I’m excited for her to get comfortable enough to not to be a robot to the coach and do the crazy things she can do. With that said, if they can find a way to keep her on the best players, while maintaining the minutes for the offensive players we need, I think it would be a game changer. The difference in South Carolina - Lofton played 20 minutes and was a pest on offense. She finds a body to block out every play and fights for rebounds. Can’t teach that. But she has to find a way to bring more offensively and I agree with the commentators when they said it’s just confidence right now. Which probably has to do with sitting over a year and coming right in to the SEC. Future is bright if they stay together and pick up a bit of experience in the portal! My thoughts on the game. First half was unwatchable due to the mindless turnovers, mindless defense and missed shots at the rim (watched anyway). Second half, we really played well across the board. We have all talked about Stewart and chavez. But, I thought Loftin really showed out in this game. She has obviously been coached on how to play defense. I thought her defense of McGill turned the game on its head. Who could have every thought that just overplaying a dominate hand could be so effective defensively. Man, the kid has go go arms, is quick, plays with effort, and unlike everyone on the team actually knows how to play defense. I know I have said on here previously that I liked the freshmen on this team. But I was wrong, I actually "love" the freshmen on this team. Put me down for believing that we have at least 3 freshmen stars (if we can keep them).
Have no idea how you would do it, but we really need to find a way to give more minutes to Stewart and Loftin. I had no idea loftin was this good. Kid can play. I don't even know who I like the best, Stewart, Loftin or Chavez. BTW, Chavez was t her worst in the first half and at her best in the second half.
All in all, a good win against a good team. Florida is better then their record. I love to have a couple of their players, particularly McGill.
