#15 OU vs Auburn 2/10 7pm

We didn't play well, but even in a world where basketball officiating in college is horrible, women's worse than men's, calling a foul on that 3/4 length shot was one of the worst calls ever. Especially when they turn around and foul Peyton when she shoots a full court shot after the free throw, but no call. Sorry but you can either call both or neither, you can't call it one way for them and another way for us.
Don't forget the play where Skylar hit a layup and was smacked in the face and there was no call.

Whatever is wrong with Raegan isn't something that is "going around" if it was contagious she wouldn't be out there with them watching them warm up and sitting on the bench.

My thoughts of the game was/is OU does not have the right type of players to run this fast pace offense
I seen many time OU girls did not block out and gave up some rebounds.
Like the OU men the ladies miss far too many easy shots, layups.
Take the win and "try" to improve

We don't know what her illness is but it's possible for a person to not be contagious any more and still not be well enough to play. She didn't show symptoms, whatever they were, until warm-ups at Ole Miss. If she was contagious at that point the cat was already out of the bag as far as exposing her teammates.

Broke down and watched the game. Good first half and bad second half. Again, too many -- "what are you thinking" turnovers in the second half.

I love Jennie's schemes and ideas about how to play the game. Generally, kids play hard, with an edge, and look focused. But, the judgment they exercise sometimes is just mind boggling. I'm not sure how you go about fixing that. Clearly, Jennie is working on it as she is getting good stretches of game where we use better judgment. In her post game presser, she said that sometimes the kids just want to do "to much". Well, maybe, but I can't really put my finger on it.

Whatever Jennie does, her ladies play free and focused with games on the line. Time and time again, her team has won close games when they were in doubt late. That is a great quality to have.

With our schedule being favorable from here to the SEC tournament, I think we finish strong (maybe undefeated the rest of the regular season) and work our way into a top 4 line for the NCAA tournament. That might help get us through to the sweet 16.

Another main trait of the Baranczyk era at OU is double-digit comebacks and blowing double-digit leads. I believe OU has 16 double-digit comeback victories in the past 4 seasons, and that doesn't include the numerous games where we were down big, came back, and finished with a narrow loss (vs UCLA in the NCAA tournament, at LSU this year, etc). Conversely, there's also been many games where we blew double digit leads (last night & at Tennessee this year quickly come to mind). It feels like a majority of games we've played against power 5 competition have featured stretches of brilliance along with stretches where we are tense and lost. If this team can put together 40 minutes of solid play, I firmly believe we can hang with anyone.

Also, not to make excuses, but it feels like we would've won comfortably last night if we had Beers. She is the one person on our team with the ability to guard a dominant center like Gaston, who outscored OU by herself in the 4th quarter.

You are spot on. This team is going down hill instead of getting better. Needs to be consequences for so many turnovers. Have never seen it with JB. Coales teams valued the ball better than this.
So bench them all? That would leave one freshman. Believe you would be forfeiting games.

One thing I thought was interesting about the game. Gaston looked 3-4 inches taller than Bea and Johnson. Looked up their roster during the game to see how tall Gaston was and they listed her at 6'2. She was plainly taller than any of our ladies, so either we are a lot shorter than listed or Auburn is fudging on her height. They had a couple of 6'5 girls on their roster, so maybe they transposed something.

Comparing the turnovers between Coale's teams and Jennie's team is comparing apples to oranges due to the the different offensive schemes. No one knows if there are consequences or not because we aren't privy to team meetings etc. We've had at least 5 players miss games due to illness over the past few weeks. We don't know how many have been under the weather but not bad enough to miss games. That plays havoc with practice, substitution rotation and any number of factors that enter into a team playing well. Hopefully, Beers is well enough to play on Sunday and the illness that's been going around has run it's course.
Which 5 players have missed games? I know Beers, Allen, and Johnson have. I guess I missed the other 2. Liz Scott missed a game for fighting.

It's very common for teams to add a couple of inches to their player's heights but I never heard of one taking inches away. She looked taller than 6'2".

The first one's I remember being unavailable were Joens and someone else - maybe Culleton?

I just think this will be about as good as we get for this season. I don't believe we will make it past an NCAA tourney 2nd round, considering the TOs that we make just giving other teams that many extra opportunities to beat us. Auburn is not a good team outside of Gaston, so we were able to pull this one out last night but better teams will make you pay for giving it to them that many extra times. I just don't think we have the personnel to play the way JB wants and instead of making adjustments we just keep trying to do the same thing over and over again, which is crazy. I really hope Beers plays this next game, because Missouri is playing better lately and it'll be an away game and I can see us letting them steal that one from us. Wish I could be more optimistic about this team right now, and if you'd have asked me before the season started how good we'd be right now i'd have probably guessed so much better than we actually are right now. :(

Do you ever listen to her postgame comments or interviews? If you did you would know that what you said isn't true. Do you go to all of the practices? Do you know she never addresses turnovers? That is literally 75% of what she just talked about in the postgame radio comments. Being irritated at players for trying to make impossible passes is a valid complaint. Saying Jennie doesn't care about turnovers isn't.
lol, well obviously nothing she’s doing is changing anything… they were very lucky to win last night… glad they did but didn’t change the fact they avg 20+ TO’s a game.

Maybe she ought to try something different, because whatever she’s doing isn’t working.

The SEC guard play is elite vs. the Big 12. If you are realistic about the rosters, we may not have a point guard on our team that would start at any SEC team. There needs to be a heavy emphasis on recruiting some high level athletic guards. Thus far that has not happened the past few years. The argument about TO's is situational. Yes, we turn the ball over way too much. Hence we need better guard play and that is exploited in the SEC. Let's not forget that we have a top 5 offense in the country (Assists, Points, Etc) but we also have a more uptempo offense that has more possessions then most teams in the country. So its great to just point out TO's, but don't forget about everything else...including 2 big 12 championships and 4 Quad 1 wins this year.

If you really want to watch low turnovers, cheer for a team that walks the ball up the court, runs out the shot clock and limits possessions. I'd rather see us clean up our bad turnovers and play an uptempo style that can beat anyone.

Athleticism won't necessarily fix turnovers. Reyna Scott is very athletic as is Zya Vann, both are turnover plagued, Zya is young so hopefully will get better as she ages. Liz Scott is also very athletic, I don't think of her as having a turnover problem. Her only "problem" is she isn't 3 inches taller.

R Scott threw the ball away 2 or 3 times in a row… Just stupid turnovers

And don't misunderstand me I am a Reyna fan. More Scott, less Tot is my motto. Along with KJ who I would also like to see play more. She has talent she just needs more work. You can't coach tall.

Yes, basketball IQ is also a part of TO's that are bad. I hope Zya can learn as she is a freshman. Still, none would start on any other SEC team and there are currently no other options. So you play with the hand you are dealt and hope they can stop it with the "dumb" TOs. All that being said they are a #16 team and control their destiny to host with 5 games left all against teams ranked below us in the NET/RPI or whatever metric you want to use. Even if we drop 1 game their is a good chance we are #4 and playing on day 3 of the SEC tournament.

Kentucky still has to play the top 3 teams in the conf and Tennessee. Alabama has Tennessee, OU & LSU left. Ole Miss has yet to play South Carolina, LSU & Tennessee. We are projected to win the remaining games...but the toughest may be this weekend as missouri has been playing much better. Lost to LSU & Texas by 9 and Tennessee by 5.

The other part of SEC play i can't stand is the officiating. As physical as they say the conference is...they reward flopping WAY TOO much. Raegan leads the team in TOs because of charge calls or posts just falling down. Sahara is #2 in TO's mostly due to the Charge calls. Throw in the flops on screens...and you have 4+ TOs a game on flops. silly, but we have to adjust.
