1st Bracketology of the Year

Wow, Creme doesn't see Louisville as highly as I do. That wouldn't be a good draw for us in the 2nd round, even at home.

Mac,

You have read it wrong. He has us as an 8 seed - the lowest of the 8 seeds since he is matching us in the hardest bracket (against #1 in the 2nd round). That means we are in the mid 30's ranked team in the US. He says only 3 Big-12 conference teams are in the top 64. Unbelievable. Why does ESPIN let folks like this write for them?

That's a really tough pool to be in and it sucks to be on the top side of the bracket. I do disagree with having OU that low of a seed, but it just shows the disrespect they have for the big 12.

You can really make an argument that the big 12 is the toughest conference right now but there will be no doubt about it in a year or two.

Come on, ss. Cremee(puff) hates the big-12. Always has - likely always will. He didn't even think we would get in the tournament much of last year.

He appears to be a publicity clerk for the ACC and SEC. He will be predicting 90% of their teams in the tournament - but the committee will show him he doesn't know anything about women's basketball.

I think the big 12 isn't as deep as its been in the past. Yes the big 12 should be back near the top with the the talent some of the teams have come in, but I think the big 12 is top heavy. The ACC followed by Big 10 are the deepest conferences right now.

It is possible we are not as deep as in a few past years, but nothing has happened to support that premise. Consider these facts (from the Big-12 weekly report) that argue we are not the worst conference in the country as Creme(puff) claims:

1. The Big 12 is ranked second in conference RPI.
2. For the sixth straight week, the Big 12 has two of the top six teams in the Associated Press Poll with No. 4 Texas and No. 6 Baylor. Oklahoma is ranked No. 17 while Oklahoma State, TCU and Iowa State received votes.
3. Every Big 12 squad is among the top 61 out of 349 teams in NCAA strength of schedule based on cumulative opposition (past and future opposition combined).
4. With its non-conference season completed, the Big 12 leads the nation in non-conference win percentage (.825) and the fewest number of losses (94-20).
5. The Big 12 is the only league that won over 80 percent of its non-conference games.
6. Nine Big 12 teams ended non-conference play with a winning percentage of over 72 percent.
7. The Big 12 went 8-6 vs. Top 25 non-conference teams with four wins by Baylor, three by Texas and one by Iowa State.

One thing that does argue we may be atrociously weak is the fact that the weekly honors suggest that virtually every Texas based team is loaded with superstars - and almost all teams out side that borough have no outstanding players or performances up to this point - after many weeks of play.

I agree with you but i think you can make a case for TCU now and OK State is not a push over right now
