I checked the new ESPN 2014 basketball recruiting rankings, and was surprised to see a bunch of new faces that had us as their "considering". I think around 14 of them were ranked in the top 100...is this a sign of top recruits wanting to go to OU? Some of these guys had a list of OU, Illinois state, Colorado, Bradley, and Harvard...does OU have any shot at guys with lists of that?

Joe Burton, D'Angelo Allen , Marvin Clark, Lourawls Nairn, and Josh Cunningham are the only top 100 or fringe 100 players right now that OU really has a shot at.

Myles Turner rarely mentions OU now. Lattin, Victor, Thompson, Oubre, Law, Vaughn are really big long shots.

As far as the list above - Marvin Clark is the guy who is most likely to pick OU. The other ones hold a lot of offers and some better bball schools right now are after them. Not saying it can't be done but it'd be a big upset pick.

Marvin Clark, Omega Harris, and getting Jacob Hammond to re-commit seems like the kind of class OU will come away with.

I find it funny many OU fans think Kruger didn't want Hammond when that is not the case at all.

Hammonds continues to show well at camps and is visiting some big named bball schools like Indiana, UCLA, St louis, KSU and others like TCU, Tech, Nebraska, A&M have offered.

But hey if Kruger and OU don't want Hammonds..I'm sure he will find a scholly from one of those other teams.

OU told Hammond to look elsewhere.
Won't be at OU.

Big Cali kid.. No name yet, but I think I said Colorado last time...
And look at the list u named for Hammond... I think we'll be fine! IU AND UCLA..

Any reason as to why OU doesn't want him?

By all public accounts - it is Hammonds who is looking around at other opportunities.

On this board - Kruger and OU have someone much better out there and don't want Hammonds who would legitimately be the highest ranked player if he were in 2013's recruiting class

We're also his best offer, by far.

Let's wait and let this play out. I have a feeling this will work out well for OU in the long run.

By "public" you mean media. Try knowing someone inside, not media and recruiting guessers.... I mean experts

Hammond, no "S" buddy, is not a better college prospect than Jordan Woodard.

What about Frank Booker? It seems to me he is similar to Frank Booker too.

One thing that has been different (and a bit concerning) about Hammond is that he has been a vagabond. Rather than sticking it out at Sunrise Christian Academy for his senior season, he has (once again) moved on to play at his 4th location in 4 years. No one seems to know where that location will be. He may turn out to be a fine college player, but something does seem to be amiss.

Someone that “transfers” that often in high school may be unlikely to stay at the first college he signs with. In recent years, more than 400 Division-1 basketball players transfer every year, and many of them played their entire high school career at the same school.

I know that Hammond used to be in a home-schooled situation, and this accounts for some of his "transfers" from one place to another. So, there may be good reasons for some of the "transfers." However, his departure from Sunrise seems strange to someone like me that does not know all the reasons for these moves. I bet Coach Kruger knows the reasons, and now Hammond is no longer committed to OU.

I agree with WTSooner .. "Let's wait and let this play out. I have a feeling this will work out well for OU in the long run."

This is BS aggy propaganda. UCLA & Indiana are not recruiting a kid who didn't even make an impact at a mediocre program like Sunrise as a junior & left due to a lack of playing time.

The funny thing is an aggy expecting anything more from hillbilly ford than a 1 & done if his team even makes the dance.

Indiana University has invited him to a camp in June.

I don't know what Hammond's recruitment has anything to do with Oklahoma State.

I was stating facts in that Hammond has publicly stated he de-committed. In fact, people on this site, "insiders" and Kruger never commented on it until after Hammond said he de-committed.

I'd be different if OU's class was full already and then Hammond de-commits quietly and then Kruger picks up a better big man.

There are hundreds of 6'0" skilled guards.

There is only a select group of 6'10" plus guys who are coordinated.
Hammond is one of them.

I agree that Woodard would have been more productive than Hammond at OU but Hammond may be more valuable as a true 5 in college bball is hard to find.

I was invited and attended several baseball camps at OSU. It would have been a waste of a roster spot if they would have acutally signed me. But I went and had fun anyway.

Well he had an official visit to UCLA and when I say camp...I don't mean one where just anyone can walk in.

It's essentially a combined visit with the current Indiana players and a few recruits.

Here's their fan site mentioning him:

He also has picked up a Nebraska and TTU offer since de-committing so it isn't like other similar schools like OU are backing off of him which is precisely my point...OU fans think Kruger told Hammond to look around as if OU had other top 150 players who are 6'10+....I was simply stating the facts that Hammond was looking around but he could come back to sign with OU.

I see the OU recruiting class of 2014 as Omega Harris, Hammond + 1 more SG/SF type player. I think Kruger is high on that Marvin kid

OU is not "on par" with Nebraska and TT in basketball. Sorry.

Why is an oswho fan over here blathering about our 2014 class as if he has an clue about it? For pete's sake, he doesn't even know that Kruger's not allowed to publicly comment on Hammond's status (for that matter, he doesn't even know the kid's name is not Hammonds), and he thinks NU and TTU are similar basketball programs to OU.

Why would we give credence to someone so uninformed?

He visited UCLA. Westwood is a nice place. Any high school basketball player could contact the Bruin basketball office and stop by and say hello.

He's recruiting them, not the other way around.

People who talk to Kruger privately were not told Hammond was told to look elsewhere.

That is a fact straight from someone close to the program.

Yes, I'm an OSU fan but I'm also a basketball fan an Oklahoma HS bball fan and a Big 12 basketball fan.

I replied to this specific thread to not start a fight but to give realistic names and recruits that Kruger and his staff are legitimately recruiting right now. I gave a list that were long shots and ones that are more likely.

I made a statement about Hammond still being on the board for OU even though OU fans like to think Kruger told him to look elsewhere...which is 100% not true.

It's not true publicly based on other schools actions (Hammon still getting similar BCS level offers once opening) which is the reason he wanted to look around and also based on what Hammond says.

And then also privately (Krugers discussions with someone who has family ties to the OU bball program).

Which is what led me to say that Hammond will most likely end up a Sooner in my personal opinion.

But I can leave at anytime...

I just follow recruiting across the board and was sharing the information I had available to me
