We all know next year is going to be a bubble team we can eithier go 14 and 18 or 20 12. we will be young but talented. but in 2015 and 2016 i think we have a shot at winning the Big 12 and making a deep NCAA run.we will have 3 or 4 of the top 15 players in the Big 12 in Buddy Hornbeak Spangler maybe Cousins and Woodward Booker will be older and better.if we add some nice recruits in the next 2 years we will def be GOOD!!!
do yall agree with me??

Back in May when you posted this, I would have agreed that the OU team had positive potential for the 2015 and 2016 seasons, but that the upcoming 2013-14 season would require PATIENCE from Sooner fans.

I was hoping for IMPROVEMENT as the freshmen guards (Buddy, Cousins and Hornbeak) became sophomores. That hope has been realized as these GYM RATS have worked hard and improved a lot.

I was hoping for improved POINT GUARD play, and the coaching staff puts a freshman out there on the court that may be a future all-conference player.

I was hoping that Ryan Spangler would be a strong REBOUNDER that could provide at least some offense. Well, Mr. Spangler is doing quite well as a redshirt sophomore.

Like many, I was wondering "where will the scoring come from" as the all the double-digit scorers (Osby, Pledger, M'Baye) had departed. Well, a few on here may have predicted a big senior season from Cam Clark, but I did not see this coming. Also, some of those sophomores can score a bit too.

So, add it all up and what do we have? Patience from OU fans is not necessary. This team is FUN TO WATCH right now. This team is capable of WINNING right now. On top of that, 2015 and 2016 could see the return of OU to the Top-25, with the solid foundation to stay there for some time.

Coach Kruger and his staff can flat out coach. Let's enjoy the ride.

I think we have a shot at the top 25 this year.

Maybe. I kind of think of us as a solid top 40 type team. A kind of team that is capable of beating better at home and will have lessor teams over a pretty big barrel. Next season my expectations would be a top 20 type with the ability to compete with about everyone every where.

This team has far exceeded my expectations so far. I was also looking forward to the next 2 seasons and still am, but it appears that we could be even better than I thought.

Spangler has exceeded expectations.

Tyler Neal and Cousins seem to have made marked improvement from last season.

Cam Clark has improved his game and Hield can shoot now.

I'm hoping the light comes on for Hornbeak because he's better than he's played so far.

Wish we had one more big to rebound and block some shots.

We are about the team I thought we would be, though how that team is winning isn't really what I had invisioned.

I thought the D would be better, and the O would be worse. On an individual level, most guys are playing about how I thought they would. Cam is unconscious from the field right now, didn't expect that. Probably thought Hornbeak would be shooting a little better than he has. I'm anxious to see what the rest of the season has for us. It's been a long while since OU had this good of a team, with so many underclassmen that won't likely be leaving early for any reason. Crazy to think what we could put on the court in a year or two.

You're not alone. I thought this team would have to hang their hat on defense, because they would struggle to score a lot of points. Boy, was I wrong!

I'm with those who believe OU could be the surprise of the Big 12 this season. But, if the freshmen bigs we've got coming in are as good as advertised, I will be very disappointed if we have to break one bead of sweat when Selection Sunday comes around next year.

Sure, we'll miss Cam. He's having a great season so far. But with all but two of our top nine players coming back, and a lot more size and depth on the way, I can see the potential for an even better season next year.

Totally agree. I think we'll be at least as good as we are now and could be better, depending upon how the newbies adjust to D1. Of course, we're still pretty early in this season.

I like our team, but I think ISU is going to be the surprise of the Big 12 season. I would be surprised to see them tie for second or finish a game back in third.

Agree. I like where our team is at, but I think, unless something happens health-wise to one of the teams above us, we're fighting Baylor for 4th. No shame in that either.

OU split with ISU and OSU last year. OU should have swept OSU last year. I see no reason to concede anything to any team in this conference. ISU lost some key players. OSU is pretty much the same team with another year of experience.

I don't disagree with that. But ISU was picked to finish fourth in the pre-season, OU was picked to finish as low as sixth.

If the Sooners end the season in fourth place or higher, they should be in the running for the Big 12's "biggest surprise." On the other hand, if ISU moves up two spots to second or wins the conference, they'll definitely get my vote.

Not that any of that matters. I'm just happy we can talk about a team picked to finish as low as sixth as a candidate for the biggest surprise. I'd dare say our optimism is a notch or two higher now than before the season started. :D

We got our big man to go along with the young gaurds and Spangler. It is looking like a bright future!

I won't concede any individual game, but our lack of depth in the post and our lack of experience on the perimeter will make it more difficult for us to finish in the top 2 over the course of the conference season.

If this were a match based purely on starting 5...I think OU is in the conversation for top 3 finish. But our bench is just not enough to maintain high quality play for each of our 18 games.
