I wonder if there might not be another option out there more similar to the Kruger hiring. Somebody more established with a proven track record. To fit that and to come to OU, they'd likely be in need of a fresh start, be in a bad spot post-recent conference realignment, or maybe have ties to the area or this part of the country. I don't have any examples, but I imagine there might be folks that want to try their hand in the SEC.
Best example I can think of, and I know it's not happening with him specifically, but somebody like McDermott. He's been at Creighton for a while. Pretty average regular season results, though he has had recent post-season success. Coach in waiting that might be chomping at the bit.
Might be more competition for those younger guys who are likely all still a shot in the dark as far as if they will be successful long-term. I wouldn't be shocked if they tried to go this route, but it's likely a VERY limited list.
