2025 NCAA Tournament 03-23 2nd Round Discussion

Just a great design by Maryland. Also an outstanding design thr play prior by csu. I'd take their coach for sure
Lol what? It was an iso at the top of the key to the best player on the court, everything beforehand is eye candy that players should have been prepared for. It was bad team defense by CSU and a poorly coached sequence. No second defender to deny Queen the catch, and after the second dribble, CSU should have swarmed him.

Iso play for your power forward on a low percentage shot nearly behind the back board. Not really any design about it. Just a great play by Queen.
Alleged Low % shot that went right in perfectly off of the backboard

It’s official. We were 3-7 against the Sweet 16 and 29% of our schedule was against Sweet 16 teams. I’d love to hear what the record is for number of games at that level.

Can people get over their moser derangement syndrome? He's staying another year. Most of the sweet sixteen coaches have superior talent, until the administration supports basketball with more NIL funding, ou will be competitive and make the tournament some years and be to close to making it some years. like they have. You say he is a horrible coach. Look at the talent gap, fears, moore and maybe wague could play for any team in the country. I would say for what he has to work with and who knows how some this coaches you want will fair being in major conferences.

He’s already taking another job.
Because we are idiots. Again, we could have had any number of guys 12 months ago, before they got hired elsewhere and continued working their way up the ladder. Medved would not leave OU for a program like Minnesota if we had hired him first
Arizona with a massive choke job right now.
It’s hilarious how quick you are to label other teams and players chokers when you watch them once, even when they hold on and win, yet you watch your milk drinking buddy crap his pants six or seven times a year and never once say the same thing about him.

There's just as much Joe C (and NIL) derangement as Moser derangement. Any view of the program that narrows the issue down to one thing, one person, is missing the boat, in my opinion. Anyone who thinks Joe C. resigning tomorrow would quickly solve all our problems is dreaming; the same could be said of Moser leaving.

As for NIL, I'll admit I haven't kept up with it, so much do I hate this new era, but am I wrong in thinking it's not up to Joe C to "support b basketball with more NIL funding"? Don't the donors designate where they want their money to go? Even if I am wrong, I can guarantee you that for every OU hoops fan who's frustrated that Joe C doesn't support basketball enough with NIL, there 10--if not 100--football fans would be furious that he was taking any money away from the collective pot that could have--should have, in their view--gone to football.

Per Trilly on Villanova opening:

"I’ll be honest I don’t know what’s going to happen at Nova at this point. I don’t think they saw Willard’s public dismantling of his AD coming. Moser is still hanging around. Pitino in theory should be in play there, but there’s a lot of smoke for him to VCU."

On Xavier opening:

"Luke Murray and Chris Mack are basically the only names I’ve heard so far. Pat Kelsey would be an absolutely electric twist but it seems very unlikely right now."

It is JOE C's primary job to fund raise for the athletic dept ..

he has failed at that job for a long long time

IMO, Castiglione’s primary job is to be a fundraiser/cheerleader for the program. While he cannot allocate NIL fund directly, he can encourage support among donors for NIL purposes. There is definitely “administration” to be done but that is secondary and why he has staff.

I am also not saying it’s an easy job to fundraiser for OU BB, especially at a school like OU that is FB first. It could be that donor support is nonexistent but I have a hard time believing that considering other factors (OU’s tradition, the popularity of the NBA, general statewide support for the university). It just seems very unlikely IMO, especially considering the lack of general improvements for other programs over the last 20 years (delay with the GFOMS master plan, Love’s Field etc, public funding via the University Park arena plan etc).
