2026 Transfer portal

All three of the girls in the portal from Oklahoma state would be great additions to our team. Going off todays game we definitely need to upgrade our bench production and order to be able to contend with teams like South carolina, lsu, etc.. In all those blow out losses our bench produced very little for us when our starters were struggling. It'll mean the difference of if we take several steps backwards next season losing Beers and Verhulst, or if we actually improve our athleticism and get better. If she does nothing like last season and gets nobody I fear we will be 8th to 10th place type of team in the SEC.

With portal season you never know until the window closes but this video clip from Aaliyah sounds like she and the core of the team are coming back.

Scary bad? OU could be in MAJOR, MAJOR trouble if they don't get a proven center. Like, bottom third of the SEC trouble.

Thank You Raegan, Payton, & Beatrice

Welp, next up is Portal season and cannot stress enough how big it is this time. Jennie & Co HAVE to be strong and aggressive.

Also, April 13th is a date to pay attention to. That’s the 2026 WNBA Draft, right now Raegan Beers looks like she could go in the 2nd round and Payton Verhulst looks to be a 3rd round prospect.

If our 2 are drafted that would be another thing to help in recruiting.

Any feeling on who could leave? The only one I can think of is Smith. She could probably get good playing time at a smaller school but I also think playing for Oklahoma was a childhood dream. Its so hard to tell but I think our retention will be good. With that said, if all stay our roster is at 11. We have room but if the coaches like the smaller roster we may only be looking for a center. I would say two centers but who wants to transfer just to ride the bench.

the troll.
Not a troll. South Carolina could have be a t us by 50 yesterday. It was that bad. There are no bigs on this roster or in the upcoming class that will help against teams like that. Beers was not athletic enough to make a dent against them. She was ok, but OU is in the most athletic conference in America, and need to recruit accordingly.

But glad you are more than fine with a Sweet 16 ceiling and losing by 30 or so back to back years to UCONN and South Carolina.

South Carolina, UCONN, UCLA, Texas and couple others are the haves, then you have the wannabes, after that you have the have nots.
I think OU falls in the wannabe group

Agreed. We are occasionally landing stellar players but not on a consistent basis like the teams mentioned in the post above. I agree that beers was ineffective in a lot of games that had teams with athletic bigs. Like I said previously I think we need to target a couple girls that are around 6'4" that are maybe a little slimmer, but more agile and able to run the floor and also pull up for a mid-range jumper.... That seems to be the type of big that compliments JB's offensive strategy the most. There were many games we just did not utilize beers to the extent we could have. Being content with stewart, who is a 6'3" forward, and incoming freshman bell, who some have listed as a 6'2" forward is not going to be enough in this league and that's just a fact. Even Michael Voebel on ESPN said that was what our needs were in the portal, as well as an athletic combo guard.

We aren’t in the same tax bracket as Ucon and South Carolina. In girls basketball you have to be if you want a chance.

We are close with Chavez but you need some freaks. No offense but Payton isn’t a final 4 starter in today’s game.

I agree we definitely need to improve our overall athleticism. This year's freshman class was a great start. All three of them impressed me overall!

Correct. Find a couple more Willam’s type athletes. Find a Payton type shooter. Helps Chavez.

Not gonna disagree.

We aren’t in the elite. If you thought we were. That’s on you.

No one wants to lose by 30. But in girls bball top 6-8 teams beat the rest of the top 25 by 30.

While you make a valid point about OU needing more talent to make the Final Four, I think you are wrong about Beers. I thought OU should have gotten the ball to Beers more on the block. She was productive when she got the ball. I think Jennie’s got the program moving in the right direction. The portal will be important, but they do have good talent coming back.
