Look I understand the concerns regarding Audi Crooks, anyone that’s mentioned that is valid. The defense, or lack thereof, and conditioning are super important factors to take into account
We, and any team, that looks to add her will need the right kind of support and lineup to balance her out. If you’ve seen Iowa State at all the past couple of years they just didn’t have that which lowered their ceiling with a player like Audi.
Now with us, I think that we have the right kind of support and athletes to surround her, and hopefully adding more from the Portal. Having her paired with Brooklyn and Sahara and Caya off the bench, they have the ability to cover that space that Audi can’t on the defensive end and adds that balance that ISU couldn’t.
And her on the offensive side is where the prize is, the nations 2nd leading scorer and just about a sure thing inside would be a great thing to have in the half court where we need to focus on. Like Muffet McGraw said about OU, “I know you like to run, but you’re just not good at it right now”.
We need to balance our system out. Running will win us a lot of games because we’ll have the better team but against the Elite teams we won’t so we’ll need to execute (Xs & Os) to beat them and that’s where a player of Audi’s acumen could really help us.
And I’m holding some people’s hand when I say this: We are not good enough to ignore a 2x All American and Nation’s 2nd leading scorer. If we were we wouldn’t be sitting at home right now. If teams like UConn, Notre Dame, USC, and UCLA are interested then we are certainly not good enough to not be.
All in all, I’d be happy to add Audi Crooks and her scoring as long as we add more athleticism to surround her.
