2026 Transfer portal

“An SEC team has Crooks’ value in the $450,000 to $500,000 range, a source told On3, but expects the center to be asking for well north of the half-million mark." Nakos wrote. (Nakos is Pete Nakos of On3)

Article mentions she could decide to turn pro but that her focus right now was finding a school to play out her last year of eligibility.
Unfortunately. My friend told me how much she was asking for and said “Absolutely NOT” she can’t even play defense and rebound good enough to be getting paid that much. She is trying to come to the SEC she has a RUDE AWAKENING. The SEC teams play bully ball when it comes to playing defense and rebounding. I really think she is going to struggle defensively even worse in the SEC and also the pace of play MOST SEC teams play is going to make her exhausted. But who knows it could work out. Its just me putting my thoughts on how I see her play in the Big12.

General question about the portal: Once a player is in the portal do they reach out to programs they are interested in? Or do they just wait to see who is interested in them? Or both?

I wonder why so many great players from Texas have entered. I don't think incoming freshmen would take their spots in the starting lineup so I wonder if there's some inner turmoil? With what they are losing next year could actually be a bit of a down year for their standards, which means they probably make an elite eight instead of a final four
