2026 Transfer portal

Cooper from Tennessee already committed to Ole Miss and somfai from Sanford already committed to tcu. Those were quick. Makes me wonder if there is some poaching going on. Or it could just be that they don't have lazy coaches and instead their coaches are very aggressive about pursuing and offering portal Stars. It doesn't seem like we have that type though. Let's see how things shake up in the next week or two and if we are still at zero players then I think it's safe to bet there's something not quite attracting players to Norman, could be a variety of things...

Or it could be that some schools behave like TT last year when they contacted an OU softball player during the CWS. Not every school or its boosters are ethical.
 
Some just don’t want to take multiple visits. They’re doing these in one day. And others have likely visited where they’re committing during their recruitment.
 
Just saw that Addy Brown is expected to visit Notre Dame tomorrow. Of course, I can't confirm this is true. I read in the " Athletic" that Vandy might be targeting her as well. I think she'd be a great fit for us, but not surprisingly we have some competition.
 
No center, next season sliding downhill. Got to get at least 1 very good post player, #1 priority before anything else.
 
IMO our staff MUST be aggressive and reach out to multiple players, as the odds of pursuing a select amount of highly pursued players doesn't work out always (look at last year, we went 0-4). There are so many players out there that are underlooked but could help out it's just a matter of putting in the effort to reach out. I saw a youtube video update of a # of entrees that I'd never even heard of but had respectable production at their former school. Even midmajor players could help out! One thing i know for almost a certainty is that if we don't land any portal players we will not be a factor in the SEC next season, and if we are less than good/great idk if Chavez would hang around past her sophomore season.

No i have, but experience is much more valuable when you have a roster full of former high school all-americans. To put it simply - there's probably no way any of the incoming freshman would start over Crump, Carlton and Lee. But i'm sure Vic will land several portal players, as he usually does.

The thing with having this much talent on one roster is that someone, or several someones are almost guaranteed to be unhappy and these caliber players don't usually want to wait their turn for a couple of seasons. We haven't really had that issue, sadly. Hopefully the talent we do still have all stays and is willing to develop!
 
TCU has already picked up two really good transfers that I was hoping we would have a shot at in Lara Somfai and Lanie Grant.

Is it possible JB’s system has lost its allure for players based on poor shooting percentages and turnovers?
 
Patience is a tough virtue, I just want to see that “____ has to committed to Oklahoma” already lol.

With these quick pick ups I think it is much more likely the deals were done before the portal even opened. I have no problem with our staff following the rules.

That's GREAT to hear. She's one of the centers in the portal right now that I believe would be a great 'get'. I really hope we seal the deal with her, and Addy Brown. I'm also a bit frustrated how TCU can land 2 of the better transfers within 2-3 days of the portal opening up....that just says to me they either reached out immediately with a HUGE offer, and didn't even have to plan a visit, or they were reaching out well before. This new coach of theirs is a great recruiter, it remains to be seen what kind of coach he is when he's lacking a bit in talent, but he's been able to land several great transfers every offseason so it's hard to say.
