2026 Transfer portal

She spent 3 seasons at LSU, one a medical redshirt.
Recruited her out of the portal last year and she canceled the visit and committed to Virginia before even going on the visit. Interested why she's giving us a second look now. If you recall she got in a fight with cullitonitin and Liz Scott during the LSU game that got them ejected...still, she's not a bad player at all, but definitely not a center.

I understand we have retained players, but my frustration is that there are players from mid majors that are still in the portal that could give us good minutes and productivity that we just don't seem to pursue. We shoot for the stars and go after the centers that everyone else wants and when we miss out on them we say aww shucks and just give up it seems (last season is a great example). There were so many teams this past season that had these pieces from smaller colleges that helped enhance their teams that I feel like we could have been able to land if we had even pursued them, that's why I get frustrated. I don't think we are creative enough in our attempt to get players out of the portal right now.

There aren’t many if any mid major centers that can help a team in the SEC.

SC is better than us. UConn is better than us. Texas is better than us. I think LSU is better than us but the gap is narrowing. Then you get the next tier. This tier are perennial sweet 16 threats and have risers and fallers where in any given year some are a final four threat. That tier has teams like UCLA, Notre Dame, Louisville, USC, TCU, Iowa. We are in that second tier. It took Dawn Staley 10 years at SC to make her first final four. Vic Schaefer’s was coaching almost 40 years before his first. JB is an excellent coach. Many schools would be thrilled to have her. She is young and has room to grow and she will. I for one am very happy with the state of the program. We may take a step back this year but if our retention holds up it will make us very good in two years. We are young but our sophomore class might be the best in the country with good freshman behind them.
Excellent post.

Im wondering if they will have Stewie start at the 5 this coming season we don’t get a big. Its definitely not a bad option. She did well there when she did play at the 5 coming off the bench. Definitely needs to work on staying out of foul trouble, She wasn’t bad on defense just had a habit of fouling when she didn’t have too.

I think we play with a fast line up all season with Bell and Stewart as our center. I think that could work for us. We will see.

Well that sucks. Sooners missed out on all of them I guess. We are literally going into next season with didly. Two forwards and a walk-on from France. This is going to be like the teams all the years before Beers that just couldn't win those close games and were just a center away. So much for our new ad actually helping the women's program. Hasn't done diddly for the men's either in the recruiting aspect.

Eventually this will hurt retention because the top OU players will see we have a tournament ceiling and we can't get beyond it.
Might even mean Coach JB will get poached to a more prosperous program.

Could you possibly wait a couple weeks?

I like Stewart but I don't know if she is physical enough to be our starting center.....Hopefully we're in line for a bigger more physical center!!

Yeah, I posted earlier that this isn’t a doomsday scenario. There may be some games where we struggle at the post because we are just outsized but not most games. Our three point shooting should improve and that means less reliance on paint points. Defense is where it will hurt the most but I agree it is a workable lineup.
