If I remember right Neal had a great junior year shooting treys but a poor senior year as Capel's offense or lack of such didn't get him open very often while Sampson always built an offense to get his best shooters open.
Pledger is hard to understand. Most seniors thrive in tournament competition but Pledger was a no-show this year.
I'm not sure a bigger problem wasn't with the point guards. Sam didn't do well under pressure late in the season and had a hard time getting us into our offense, so good open shots in good rhythm were pretty rare. Cousins was better at times but up and down. For example he helped us in the first half against San Diego State but didn't in the second half and probably hurt us. Sam along with Pledger was basically a no show after he hit the early trey.
If you remember the Texas loss, the OU offense just cut Texas to pieces until they turned up the pressure and then we just had no offense at all.
