#5 OU vs Ole Miss 6pm 1/8

looking forward to game.....hope everyone is healthy, stays healthy and has fun...oh, and plays well

not a player on the team that I do not enjoy watching........Keziah is really fun because she is so fast and is good at guarding players bringing the ball up....not the only one, of course

Already getting pounded. Mainly because we are already turning the ball over and making bad shots. PV has missed two layups in a row because they're scoop underhanded layups which I don't understand....

Down 15-3 after 5 1/2 minutes of play... Haven't made a single field goal

Down 35-32 at half. Played with better intensity that quarter. Verhulst is in an awful slump last several games…0-9 tonight. Chavez 1-8 and forcing up bad shots on drives. Need them to have a better 2nd half.

They are just more aggressive and unafraid and are owning us down low or the short jumpers. We don't have anyone that's hitting short jumpers right now and if it were not for beers we would be getting smoke. Doesn't seem like JB is calling plays either and we are just reading what their defense gives us. Hopefully we can put it together in the second half because Kentucky is a better team than Old Miss and we can't start off against them like we did tonight

Lots of 1 on 5 plays… ole miss can’t miss.. lol

Ole Miss playing to what ever we give them and being successful.

So many stupid turnovers… ok to take chances when you’re up 25+… needing to learn even to as low down

57-52 after Q3. Chavez got hot that quarter to keep us in the game. She is up to 16…Payton 0-11 and 0 points.

Good lord… HORRIBLE passes … not taking possessions serious.

I’ll say it again..

This style coach runs is great when you’re up 15+… these tight games not so much

Every single time we got within one possession or even took a 2-second lead we proceeded with turnover after turnover after turnover. Ole Miss is not even top tier and we come out in a home game poop the bed against them. After owning them the last several years. JB didn't have a dang plan and our lack of bench really hurt us today. Now we know a lot more about this team

She's been having a pretty bad season. The fact is we needed more leadership tonight than what we got. Chavez did as much as she can but she's just not there yet as far as distributing and creating for others. Besides her and beers nobody else really showed up and IMO we are just not there yet. Definitely not top 5 quality. I believe we are top 10, but that's about as high as we go. We won't beat Kentucky Sunday either so we will definitely plummet in the rankings. Then we play South Carolina next weekend...

I agree. Top 10-12. I’d be surprised if we don’t go 1-3 now and most likely 0-4.

We deserved to lose this game, for several reasons.

1. Turnovers: We had cut those down this season. Normally, we have turnovers because we are being aggressive and it results in a turnover. Tonight we made way too many sloppy passes.
2. Shooting percentage: 34.3%. How many times did one of our shots roll around the rim and come out again? Ole Miss shot 47.5%. We left their good shooters open far too often.
3. We were 6 of 25 in three-point shots and all of those belonged to Chavez. Someone else has to step up in that department. Peyton seems to have what I call 'senioritis'. She wants to do well so bad that it's affecting her shot.
4. We can't have Zaya only play 27 minutes due to foul trouble. She needs to be smarter than that.

Last but not least, this officiating crew was awful. I propose a new rule. The officials are docked $50 a minute for every minute they spend watching replays.

Officiating was pretty horrible. We got bumped a ton in the lane when shooting layups. I think Caya should start next game. She’s a great defender. Maybe give verhulst a reset.

When verhulst is not shooting well we really only have one consistent shooter and that is chavez. Vann is hit or miss. One game she scored 16 the next game she scores 2, and none of our bench players are able to contribute consistently on offense. This could have been addressed by bringing in a couple of experienced transfer players from mid majors perhaps but JB just didn't seem interested enough to do that I guess.

Kentucky lost to Alabama by 13 tonight because Key is out with an injury. Not sure when she's coming back, but I still don't think we beat them at home and I know we're not beating LSU or South Carolina, so we are going to lose four games in a row unless we take this loss to heart and play better than we have been, which is unlikely considering our struggles. And honestly those teams have more talent than we do anyway.

Payton last 10 games:
34 for 103 overall 33%
10 for 48 from 3 for 21%
90 total points…True Shooting % of roughly 41%

Got to work with her from a confidence standpoint and get her out of the slump. We can’t reach our potential without Payton playing well.
