#6 OU at Western Carolina 2:30pm 11/16

19-5 after Q1. Definite emphasis on playing aggressive defense and we caused turnovers on about half of their possessions including 30 second click violations. We need to finish better under the basket the rest of the game…too many in close misses.

40-17 at half. Chavez with 14 and Beers with 11. Only complaint is a couple too many turnovers and 44% shooting from the field because of close misses. Defense continued to be aggressive and good.

95-32 final. 21 for Beers, Chavez 19, Zya 14, Stewart 10. We kept up the defensive intensity all game. Lots of minutes for Smith, Lofton and Stewart to continue to develop depth. Have to feel good about playing well all 4 quarters today.

I was a little concerned about injuries with this many games in a week. Looked like Chavez, Williams and Lofton all had to be subbed out. I noticed when Daffa scored, Lofton was hopping on one foot cheering for her. Makes me think we should play starters equally unless we have no choice. Even Reagan went down and took a second to get up. I think this will be a worry all year for me with an 11 man roster.

At least we have 11 players not 9 as originally thought several wees ago. Was Beers wearing some kind of protective covering near one of her ankles?

You are so right about that!
I didn’t notice anything on her ankle.

11 is plenty. 5-6 dudes in practice weekly to mange scout team.

bottom 4-5 arent seeing the floor anyway.

Well, this one was a real cupcake. Dawned on me is the reason teams like Belmont and North Alabama are getting good players is that the big schools are going part frosh and part portal which leaves more talent for the smaller schools. Then the more talented players in the mid size and small schools go portal after a year or two.

Stewart, Lofton and Tolan continue to develop and Chavez was her usual sparkling self. I don't think her teammates are ready for some of her passes and that will get better as the season goes along. She is almost Caitlin Clarkish with her passing. Good to see Chissoko get her first points. She still looks a little lost out there but I see some athleticism there and nice length. Nice high low pass for a score.

Forcing too many layups and missing too many. If you watch UConn they would turn down half of the layups we try to make and work for a better shot. A Definite area for improvement. Too many scoring opportunities lost bcause of forcing layups.

Continue to be impressed with the defense of Lofton and Tolan.
