#9 OU vs Florida St 5:30pm 11/30

All started off looking absolutely awful turn the ball over multiple times and all five starters got yanked. Down 7- 13

Update: went on a 12-2 run to end the quarter up 22-21. Might be settling in

1 pt lead at half time. 43-42. Not very good quality ball though. I think at one point FSU was shooting 53% from three point range, and we did nothing to guard them better defensively. The way we are playing today reminds me of last year's team and the year before that when we just hoped to outscore other teams. I hope we get it together in the second half because we should be smoking this team

Now up 103-82 with 1:54 to play Chavez has 29, Sahara, 16, Beers 14 Caya Smith 13 outrebounding them 51-38 and have two fewer turnovers

Much better coming out of HT.

Brooklyn Stewart and Caya Smith continues to impress me a LOT coming off the bench.

I would have loved to see Verhulst score a little more though.

I think we only made 1 turnover in the 2nd half…really impressive considering the pace we play at
Yes very impressive. All 5 starters all scored over in double digits! And Caya scored a Career high 12 points to go along with her impressive day today.

2 things I need to see improve before our home game against NC State…

1. Ball sharing and more shots falling

2. I need to see Payton Verhulst get involved more offensively.

I agree! Payton has to be involved. She’s our best shooter outside.
Lofton was a spark off the bench to get things going, but she has to adjust to not being a PG. She’s looking to create for her team every catch, instead of attacking, which she is very good at. I don’t think she’s putting up more than 3 shots a game and that won’t work.
The first half was ugly, but they did look too pass more. I think they were just adjusting to a new team who was physical and fast. Plus they made about 20 3’s?
Smith did great off the bench! Once she can control some passes and the ball a little more, she’s going to explode. Which will come.
Foul trouble has to stop. I believe we had 3 players with 4 fouls and 1 foul out.
Chavez took great shots the first half. Can’t critique anything, because she saved the game.
Williams continues to improve on efficiency. Probably my favorite player.

Followed the game with the stat site. Saw a few highlights on YouTube. Had seen Florida State play UConn and knew they woud be a good three point shooting team. Brooks Moser once said about young players "they initially play to survive and at some point they play to compete. I think all our inexxperienced players are getting close to the compete stage other than Cassoko. Chavez came ready to compete but was coming off a couple of lack luster outings. I thing we still have a way to go for them to really understand how their teammates are going to move and react. Only one turnover in the second half. I think Chavez has a lot to do with that and of course Vann. Hope to get a look at a full game replay.

Finally got a full replay. Not a bad game. Florida State is a good three point shooting team and they played like they had nothing to lose and a number of their made treys were pretty well contested.

Caya Smith has suddenly turned agressive and that is giving her more playing time. I wasn't counting on that much help from her depth wise.

Stewart continues to progress bt I think there is a lot more upside. When she learns to be agressive without all of the fouls that will be a big plus.

Chavez had a good night but is shooting too many mid-range and inside shots off balance and pretty well covered. Should be hitting a much higher percent of them.

Lofton continues to play good defense as does Tolan. Lofton is still having difficulty finding her offensive game. Most of her points have come from steals and fast breaks. Mostly layups.

NC State will be a challenge.
