Aaliyah Wilson

Best player on the eastside of the state this year.

Wilson averaged almost 20 ppg, over 9 rpg, and shot almost 50% from the 3 pt line. She creates her own shot, plays tough inside, and is the best defender I've seen in a while in high school. We talked about Courtney being great from day one, I don't think it will take Wilson long to adapt to D-1. Not sure the last time when Okla. produced a guard as good in every phase of the game as Wilson.

Haven't been that impressed by her, I think she'll pick Rutgers tho... Seems like a good fit for her and the team.

I have a wait and see attitude towards Wilson. I've seen her twice in the semi-final and final games. I thought Llanusa outplayed her, but Ana was about all that Choctaw had. Wilson was the hardest worker on the court and was full of energy. But, she really didn't show being a 50% outside shooter. Nearly all of her points were off drives and fouls. Shot a ton of free throws. She was also a strong rebounder that got a lot of shots at the basket. She might put her own miss back up three or four times. Choctaw had no answer for that physical of a player inside. Reminded me a lot of Sharane. I didn't see that her ball-handling skills were that great.

In the finals, Broken Arrow had one player that was big enough to dominate the middle. She was only 6-0, but she was big and physical. She dominated the lane. The ability of Wilson to drive, miss a shot, and get her own rebound until she scored was curtailed. Without that, she wasn't that effective. Muskogee did have another guard who was about as effective, if not more so, than Wilson. Just the presence of the one player in the middle took a lot of Wilson's game away. They had a couple of D-1 prospects, but lost to BA.

IT left me wondering if she will be that effective when all of the teams have a 6-2 to 6-5 post that can dominate the middle. Will she be able to score under those circumstances? I don't know if she is a strong enough ball-handler to drive against D-1 competition, and she is largely dependent on driving and rebounding her own shot.

Her energy says she'll be good. I just am not sure after what I saw in those two games whether it translates into D-1 ball. She may work to develop those skills that she will need to make it work. I think you want someone like her on the team because it may work. It will be interesting.

She's the real deal. I think the last time Okla produced a SG guard her calliber was Courtney Walker 2012 or a Sade Morris 2007.

You are entitled to your own opinion, but Wilson is the real deal who has taken her game to another level. Has really elevated her game. I don't think their is anyone in the state right now who can check her one on one. Her defense is what impresses me the most. I suggest you follow Muskogee this season to see for yourself.

I have no doubt that Muskogee will be good. I'll see them if they are on TV. I'm not driving up there to see them. Notice that I didn't say she wouldn't make it. I said that I had not yet seen the skills in these two games that said she would be a star or a great prospect. Worth watching. I watched her perform under two different circumstances.

Keep in mind, if Wilson would have committed to OU, he would be saying that she's the best guard in the country. But, since she's leaving the state, she's not all that.

Nice accusation. If you will go back to the state tournament, I made the same statements then.

Funny to read him say these things.....if i say it he says that I'm talking about a child. I respect his opinion but i do not agree with it at all. Only other kid you can compare to Wilson from Oklahoma is walker

I didn't put her down. I listed positives and negatives and left it open.

It is my opinion, as are all evaluations, and I trust my judgement more than I trust yours.

As i listed positives and negatives....but mine did not benefit you nor your team so you decided to attack me.

You can't evaluate a kid for 2 games then decide who she is or isn't. Both times you have spoken about a kid to show your argument......it was based on a 2 game observation. Sometimes slumps last more than 2 games, also please explain to me how do you make an argument about Wilson not being a 50% shooter? That was based on her season not the 2 games that you saw, so i am going to have to lean on the numbers side there......and yes she does shoot the 3 ball well but she understands if it isn't falling then to get closer

I realize that you and Norm would love to have it be the same. But, I did not:

---question a girl's character saying that she didn't like the game
---didn't go to the board of the team that signed Wilson, nor will I, to criticize
---made clear the observations that I had made
---also made it clear that she was a hard worker that might overcome the problems that I saw.
---I also didn't lie and say that she hung out at the three point line.

Your criticism of Dungee and Mulkey was deliberate and framed as an attack---on an OU board.

I'm not questioning her character by saying she doesn't like the game. I'm telling you what I've seen and what was told to me. Also it's not a lie about a her standing on the wing....maybe the coaching staff will demand her to get closer to the basket but she will sit near the 3 point line. Wish you knew TK the way i do because he has said the same thing. He's a coach on the sooner staff but have mentioned it.....so i guess he's a liar.

I've said before you can't teach 6'9" so yes you take her as a project but she isn't a game changer.

Bottom line is you are one who thinks you and yours can do no wrong when in reality we all can be wrong.

My vote is still for Katelyn Levings as the best player in the state, Freshman or not.

Really? How so? Just Curious and she's in the 8th grade. Didn't know you were considered the best in the state that young.
