I can remember Sherri saying that she has seen someone one time and known that she had to sign her, on more than one occasion. The good coaches know talent when they see it. It doesn't take a bunch of times to see what they want to see.
But, then, someone who actually does for a job, that someone thinks enough of to pay a half million or more to coach, know what they are looking for. It may not be the one who scores. It may not be the one who looks good in a pickup game. It may be the one who has one attribute that can be utilized, or that indicates the talent level of a kid.
I'm not a scout. But, in one or two games, I could tell a coach what I have seen that might be of value, something that I have noticed as a strength or weakness. I don't have to have a final evaluation. That is the coach''s job. From what I have heard, most coaches use the "scouts" simply as a source of names. They do their own evaluation based on what actually works.
You can't tell that after two games? They can, often after two minutes.
