Didnt you tell me once that you knew Andy Anderson? He was a STUD when he played at Ada High. What ever happened to him? Is he still around down there?

NCSooner, I haven't seen Andy in years, but the Andersons still live on the north side of town. They're a fine family. The Andersons have three sons. The oldest two, Thomas and young Andy, were pretty darned good players in their own right. Both were all-staters in the mid-80s who went on to play college ball. As I recall, the younger Andy played four years at Colorado State.

I'll make it a point to check on the Andersons and get back to you with a report. How are things in Greensboro? Really nice area! I wouldn't mind living there, but doubt that we will ever leave Oklahoma.

Anderson actually played two years at Colorado State. He played his freshman year at Oklahoma Christian, then transferred to MIT (Murray-in-Tishomingo) for his sophomore year. From there, he went to CSU.

I never heard what happened at OCC, but it must have been a less-than-cordial parting of the ways. I saw a CSU media guide when he was still there, and it didn't even mention how he played that one year for the Eagles.

Glad you cleared that up, NMSooner. My memory ain't what it used to be. lol

For some reason I was thinking that Andy's brother Thomas was the one who played at MIT. Maybe he did, too. It's been so long ago, I honestly don't recall the details. I saw both of them play in high school and they were pretty darned good. Thomas was more of a SF and a finesse player. Andy was a hoss at the PF position.

Andy may have had the best three point stroke I have seen. They didnt have the line until 87-88 but he shot the eyes out of it from DEEEEP (out by the old timeline). Averaged 30+ per game and shot a lot of deep shots. He could score from everywhere.

He was CSUs leading scorer and I believe they made the dance both years he was there. Went to FA camp with the Mavericks I believe.

My claim to fame was throwing a lazy layup of his in the cheap seats at a tryout at MIT at the end of my senior year. (before he went to CSU). He dunked over about three guys the next trip up the floor. LOL

It doesn't really matter but I am pretty sure the 3 point line was adopted in college basketbeall prior to 1987. I have a memory of Tim McCallister making 3 point baskets to win games. I could be wrong and they could have just been last second shots but I would probably bet money on it.

Im talking about high school. The 3-point line came in my senior year (87-88).

The story about Andy made me think he shot some DEEP shots that would have been threes but theline didnt come into play until after he graduated. They had it in college though.
