All-Big 12 Awards Announced

Wow at Mulkey not making the all rookie team... she started off hot and then cooled off, and Cox started off cold and then got hot. I guess they valued more how you how finish vs how you start... I also think Vivi should have been the 6th man of the year.

congrats to Brooke as POY

VPL and Peyton are our 2 best players. However, I think Little has lost confidence in her shooting as of late.

I think the coaches still thought of her as a starter not a 6th man as she played twice (26.4) the minute despite Vivi not starting during the conference season I think the coaches probablys as did Mulkey (12.3).

Congrats to the ladies.

This does say something about our talent level, though. IMO

It's interesting that the team finishing third has no First Team All Big Twelve, while the team finishing fourth has two, same number as Baylor, and the teams finishing sixth and eighth have one. Then, the two that they choose for the Second team does not include the leading scorer for the year.

I think Seanna and Maddie deserve first team. Mulkey had enough impact to make the Freshman team.

Jessica Washington? Really? Didn't she shoot about 30% from the field?

I think the coaches did a good job with their selections. I would like to see only 5 players on the first team.

Baylor 17-1 28-2
Texas 15-3 22-7
Oklahoma 13-5 22-8
Kansas State 11-7 21-9
Iowa State 9-9 18-11
West Virginia 8-10 20-10
Oklahoma State 6-12 16-13
Texas Tech 5-13 13-16
TCU 4-14 12-17
Kansas 2-16 8-21

Is that reflected in the selections? There is a lot of difference in 13-5 and 8-10 or 2-16. Either OU has a coach or some talent.

Well, if the picks are accurate, it clearly proves one thing beyond any doubt: Sherri is by far the top game coach in the conference. Marginal players, not a single top notch player, etc. Yet she finished a very clear 3rd in the conference.

Think about what the coaches said. Almost every team in the conference had better players. Yet the only ones who could finish above Sherri's team had nearly a whole team of better players. And even many of those below had better players.

There is one quite puzzling thing in all this. If all these players are better, how in the world did Vivi end up above many of them in almost every statistical category? Maybe what you actually do on the court is weighed less than other factors? What? I thought it was about what you do, rather than what you wish was true.

Actually, if you think just for a moment, it becomes clear what this is all about. As you think about it, ask yourself why Nebraska, Colorado, A&M, etc. left the Big-12 high and dry.

For those that question some of the awards this way help to justify ...I am a huge McCarty fan but kalani Brown to me was the most consistent dominant player this year in the Big 12

You are possibly right, but I admit that even though McCarty was obviously not the best player in the conference, I really enjoyed watching her play - and am not unhappy she received the top award.

Not at all...often kids like McCarty are not rewarded for stats just don't show she has many of those her intangibles as a player is off the charts. Every team needs a kid that can go when needed along with making others go.
Brown was just consistent unstoppable - truth is for any other team in Big 12 her numbers double becuAse she plays more Baylor has depth lots in that spot which will make kalani even better in the run to Dallas

When I look at the stats first thing I see is how much of a need OU will have for a consistent scorer around the rim and rebounding. If you look at fg percentage it is not led or even topped with perimeter players because a good perimeter player will shoot 45% from the floor but is your post players or kids that score around the rim which leads the big 12 in shooting percentage. Once Vivi is gone both our rebounding and rim scoring is gone. Nancy is a shot blocker. I believe Maddie Chelsea and Ana will fill shooting roles ortiz will run the team and shaina will increase the defensive activity across the board. I have watched her on film many times not the best long range shooter but I believe OU will have that covered she will give OU a TT/Carter combo but better good pull up very quick and her ability to slash and get to rim is incredible strong and finishes - she may be able to help with the higher percentage shots around the rim mostly bigs get. If OU can get some more Vivi type kids and a more athletic rebounding 4 I believe they will play with anyone in big 12. This is the immediate need after next years seniors go they will have more impactful spots to fill like Ortiz and Maddie but after those two we need 55% block shooters and rebounders deluxe!
I know I know IF we get these kids! One stat I know we can control is our attendance let's get more fans in the stands! If we can time this right better fans better players may just make that run!

OU HAS A COACH WITHOUT QUESTION. they ha e talent too but imo just need to be deeper in the toughness rebounding big category. Next year is fine pieces are all still there is always better talent out there but this group is solid. The prob is all of the kids just can't contribute in most game situations. Biggest concern is treece/ and the entire current soph class Ej penzo rich? Can these kids ever help. And if not then there is no room to recruit role player kids already have too many imo

Texas and money both primarily football related. Good business decisions by all.
