All College Classic

OSU vs. Bama, OU vs. Cincy. Very cool. And with it being on a Saturday night I might actually be able to go for once.

And we are back to having decent games in this. It seems like to me oSu had schedualed D-1 bottom feeders the past few years

Looks like yall get to face an Ex-Cowboy. Ibrahima Thomas played for OSU a few years ago, he is 6-11, very skinny and thinks he was a SG. He now plays for Cinnci.

He was a nice looking young player his freshmen year at OSU. He even started most of the season, but he is by no means a physical presence down low. He has a very good skill set, moves very good for his size and has a nice jumper. His down side is he hates contact and likes to hang around the 3 point line.

Good opponents and playing on a Saturday should equal a good turnout.

Now if they would only move it nine or ten days later, as it used to be, out-of-town fans who are home for the holidays could attend.

He is also rumored to have a mangina.

The rumor was he left OSU because coach Ford yelled at him and made him bang in the post. He's not a player I would fear. Did Lance Stephens declare for the draft? He is the type of player I might worry about.

stephenson is gone!

Not sure who Cincy has left on their roster, but it could be a decent matchup as they always seem to have a competetive squad. Alabama is more of a meh game. Alabama sucks. 17-15 last year in an awful SEC.

The same could be said about us after last year, I don't follow bama so if anyone knows who they got in this class and who is returning for them I personally would like to know

Anthony Grant is Alabama's HC, former HC of Virginia Commonwealth, former # 1 assistant to Billy Donovan. Big recruiter who many credit with building Florida's two championship teams.

Bama's big recruit coming in is Trevor Releford a point guard out of Kansas. I believe he was recruited by OU. They also have two 4 star commits for 2011.

First off, I would hardly call La Salle and especially Rhode Island "D-1 bottom feeders".

Two years ago Rhode Island won 23 games for crying out loud.

Secondly, is OSU even who is responsible for scheduling this thing? I thought that the All College and ESPN put the matchups together.

That said, it does seem that the slate of games has been fairly sub-par the past few years.

It's a far cry from when OSU and OU were playing Tennessee, Gonzaga, West Virginia, etc.

I like adding Alabama this year. It would be really nice if they would move to mostly regional matchups, with games against SEC teams and/or really good MVC teams. It would be great to see teams like Creighton or Wichita State as the "undercard" and then a game against an SEC team for the spotlight game.

You lost me at La Salle isn't a D-1 bottom feeder. But I think that it's a combination of the school, the event, and ESPN who schedules the games. I think they've had a problem with the date in the past in getting schools in for the event.

Would just saying Ford was throwing a bone to teams in his former conference sound better?

I don't think OU or OSU has anything to do with scheduling.

I guess it depends on your definition of "bottom feeder."

La Salle is an Atlantic 10 team. The A-10 generally is a conference that gets multiple bids to the NCAA Tournament. This year they had three: Xavier, Temple and Richmond.

As a conference, the A-10 was rated ahead of both the MWC and C-USA.

So is La Salle a mid-major? Yes. A "bottom feeder"? No.

"Bottom feeders" in my book are Prarie View A&M, Southern, Arkansas Pine Bluff, Nichols State, Centenary, etc.

They aren't teams that play in major or mid-major conferences.

Regardless of how well major or mid-major teams compete in their respective conference, they all get enough players and are capable enough to not be described as "bottom feeders."

Remember there are 300+ teams in D-1 basketball.
